Betting on the Iron Bowl – Auburn vs Alabama

The must watch game on the college football betting schedule this week is without a doubt the Iron Bowl between the 2nd ranked Auburn Tigers and 11th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

Usually what’s at stake is more important for the Crimson Tide at this time of year, but heading into this season’s eition, it’s the Tigers who have everything on the line heading to Tuscaloosa. At 9-0 and second in the BCS standings, they are already locked into the SEC Championship Game, but a berth in the National Championship game still hangs in the balance.

Add that all up and Betting on the Iron Bowl becomes the best thing you’ll do with your Friday.

#2 Auburn Tigers vs. #9 Alabama Crimson Tide (Bryant-Denny Stadium– Tuscaloosa, AL)

Friday November 26th – 2:30 PM ET

It’s been quite the season for Auburn, with all the controversy surrounding their QB and whether or not he should have remained eligible amongst all the allocations. But the school has stood behind him, which isn’t much of a shocker considering the season the Tigers are having, and now have a chance to knock off their rivals in the Iron Bowl. It’s not going to be easy as the Crimson Tide are the defending National Champions, and although they won’t get a chance to defend their title, if the Tigers want to take their title, they are going to have to be the champs first.

Iron Bowl Betting Spread:

Auburn Tigers +155

Alabama Crimson Tide -4, -175

Total – 57 ½

The Tigers have the right man for the job as Cam Newton has been dynamite all season long. Even with all the distractions off the field, he’s been able to remain focused on the job at hand and continues to do it all for the Tigers. He has chalked up 1,297 yards with a ridiculous 17 TD’s, and has thrown for 2,038 through the air, adding 21 touchdown passes. Add that up and that’s a boat load of offence and a Heisman worthy season, which he could seal up with an Iron Bowl Betting victory.

Lost in all the fuss about Newton and the Tigers is Alabama, who is still one of the best teams in the nation. Greg McElroy has done a fantastic job managing the ball for the Tide this year, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s got the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in his back field. Speaking of Mark Ingram, he’s been far less dominant this season, but has still chalked up 10 TD’s and nearly 800 yards on the ground. If the Tide are going to ruin the Tigers chances at a National Title by winning the Iron Bowl, he will need to be a factor in Friday’s game.

But there is only so much the offence for Alabama can do, it’s really up to their defence if they want to win this one and I just don’t see them being able to get the stops to cover the spread. That’s why I’m taking the Auburn Tigers to take the Iron Bowl Betting crown on route to a National Championship win.

Iron Bowl Betting Prediction: Penn State (-10 ½)
