Based on my own college bowl predictions, there appears to be a very winnable parlay available to college bowl wagering fans. Parlays can yield big profits for small investments.
The two College Bowl Betting Games are the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday night and the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve.
Let’s take a look at the parlay.
Poinsettia Bowl: Utah Utes vs. California Golden Bears
College Bowl Odds: California -3 ½
Analysis: The Utah Utes may not be as good this season as they were last season when they went undefeated and rolled over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, but Utah has showed plenty of heart during this season.
Their record against the spread doesn’t really show it as they are 5 and 7 ATS, but victories against Air Force, Wyoming, New Mexico and San Diego State were pretty good. Losing by only 3 points to BYU on the road as 7 ½ point underdogs, in a way, summed up their season.
California has been up and down this season. Cal was destroyed by Oregon State 31 to 14 and Oregon 42 to 3. They also lost to USC 30 to 3 at home. Cal just doesn’t have a lot of heart. They don’t know how to pick themselves up off the ground when someone punches them in the face.
The trends point to Utah covering the spread in this game as the Utes are 6 and 1 ATS in their last 7 bowl games. California is 3 and 7 ATS in their last 10 games in December and 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing 450 or more yards in their previous game.
Utah is the bet in this one. Take the points.
Winning Pick: Utah at +3 ½
Hawaii Bowl: SMU Mustangs vs. Nevada Wolf Pack
College Bowl Odds: Nevada -12 ½
Analysis: After losing three games in a row straight-up and against the spread, the Nevada Wolf Pack kicked it into gear and won 8 out of their next 9 games and went 7 and 2 against the spread in the process.
The lone team that the Wolf Pack lost to straight-up, Boise State, went undefeated during the regular season and received a BCS Bowl bid to play in the Fiesta Bowl. SMU is not Boise State and even in that game the Wolf Pack covered the spread.
SMU went 6 and 5 ATS during the regular season while playing against so-so competition like Rice and UTEP.
The trends don’t really favor either team in this game, but Nevada’s losses to Notre Dame, Missouri and Boise State are more impressive than any of SMU’s victories save for their win over East Carolina earlier in the season.
Nevada is hot and it’s a good idea to never bet against a hot team in a bowl game.
Two Bet Parlay
Utah + 3 ½
Nevada -12 ½
