Coming into this season, not much was expected of the Cowboys, as they lost quarterback Zac Robinson and a host of other superstars off last year’s team. Fortunately no one told the current players, as they rolled up a staggering 65 points in a win over Washington State last Saturday.
Leading the way was a familiar name to fans, Kendall Hunter. Those who made the Cowboys one of their college football free betting picks in 2008 remember that Hunter was excellent season, rushing for over 1,000 yards, before being sidelined most of last year with injury. Well he was back in a big way last Saturday, as he rumbled for 257 yards on just 12 carries, and scored four touchdowns in the win. Those 257 yards were the most of any individual running back last week.
While Hunter got it done on the ground, veteran quarterback Brandon Weeden got in done through the air for the Cowboys.
Not much was known about Weeden coming into this season, as the 26-year-old former baseball player had rarely seen the field with Robinson in Stillwater these last couple years. He made the most of his first game of this season though, completing 22 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night. Combine Weeden with Hunter, and this could end up being one of the most explosive offenses in the game this year.
As for the Cowboys opponents, the Troy Trojans quietly got a quality win of their own last weekend.
Not much was made of the Trojans victory, but it should be, as they racked up 429 yards of total offense against Bowling Green. Leading the way was quarterback Corey Robinson, who put up huge numbers, completing 25 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown.
However, as good as this offense was, the defense was just as bad. And because of that, be sure to take Oklahoma State in your college football free betting picks this weekend.
The Trojans allowed Bowling Green to total 329 yards of their own, including 221 through the air, in the win. While those numbers aren’t horrible by any stretch, it’s got to concern anyone thinking about taking Troy. Of Bowling Green can put up that kind of yardage against the Trojans, you’ve got to assume it’ll be a big day for Weeden as well.
It’s going to be an exciting day in college football Saturday, but why not cap off the evening with a solid win?
To do so, all you need to do is make one wager, on Oklahoma State. The Cowboys one of the college football free picks that can’t miss!
