BetUS NCAA College Football Betting Odds: BOISE STATE -23, Total 62

Boise State is among a group of undefeated teams that are theoretically in the running to play in the BCS championship game, though they are at the tail end of that queue. They are at #6 in both the AP and coaches' polls, not to mention the all-important BCS rankings. They have demonstrated that they will run up the score when they get the chance, which adds an angle in the analysis, and caught an inferior team on their own "Blue Carpet" last week when they routed Idaho 63-25.

Here are some of the trends as they relate to this matchup:

  • BSU has won 22 of its last 23 games SU
  • BSU has covered eight of its last 11 road games
  • BSU has won its last 11 road games SU
  • BSU has played five of its last six road games OVER the total
  • UST has covered four of its last five games
  • UST has lost 19 of its last 25 games SU
  • UST has played five of its last seven games UNDER the total
  • UST has won five of its last six home games SU
  • UST has lost 16 of his last 23 home games SU

Also...

  • BSU has won the last eight meetings SU
  • BSU has covered the last nine meetings

They have also beaten San Jose State 45-7 and Hawaii 54-9 within the last four games. The games at Tulsa and Louisiana Tech, however, were not so easy for the Broncos, who had anxious moments before winning.

There are enough weapons on the Boise State side to make any team nervous. Leading the pack is Kellen Moore, who remains the #1-ranked passer in the country. Moore, a southpaw, has had an incredible season, with a 68% completion rate, 32 touchdowns and just three interceptions, while sustaining only five sacks.

There hasn't been anyone who has really busted out as a Heisman favorite, and there is some talk that Moore should have an opportunity to bust his way into the mix. We don't necessarily disagree with that.

An especially dangerous playmaker is Titus Young, who has been hot, with 100 or more yards in receptions in three of the last four weeks and 130 yards on three kickoff returns last week against Idaho. You can't forget the Boise State defense either, which ranks 12th in the nation and if you recall, really stymied Oregon in the season's opening game. Combine all this with the fact that the Broncos are what you might call "poll-conscious" and you know that Utah State will have quite a job on its hands.

The Aggies might be up to it, though, at least from the standpoint of looking at things in the college football betting realm. New coach Gary Andersen, who was the defensive coordinator at undefeated Utah last year, has brought more of a fighting spirit to this team, and they've covered four of their last five games, as well as 11 of their last 14.

There are some fundamentals they can bring to the table. Sure, the defense is a work in progress, but it also has held the opponent to 54% accuracy; they can run the ball behind the surprisingly good Robert Turbin (1122 yards), who's really turned things on as a sophomore.

Quarterback Diondre Borel has to rebound from a dreadful performance against San Jose State (7-for-18) but he's capable of helping Utah State put some points on the board. He's thrown for 2315 yards with just three interceptions. The Aggies have been feisty as a host, beating Louisiana Tech, losing to Nevada and its strong infantry by just a field goal, and easing to a 24-9 win against San Jose State.

We'll look for them to be competitive in this, the final home game, taking the 23 points in the BetUS NCAA football odds.
