NCAAF Week 8 Wagering - Florida State vs. North Carolina State

ESPN’s Thursday Night Football heads to Raleigh, North Carolina, and BetUS will have all of the great football betting action covered when the North Carolina State Wolfpack (2-4, 3-2 ATS) play host to the Florida State Seminoles (4-1, 2-1 ATS). The Wolfpack have absolutely dominated FSU since 2001 going 6-0-1 ATS and 4-3 SU. In each of the seven meetings, they were underdogs by at least 5.5-points.

Florida State bettors have quietly improved to 2-1 ATS since getting knocked off 12-3 at home to Wake Forest back on September 20th. They were off last weekend, but will hope to build upon the wild 41-39 victory against the Miami Hurricanes two weeks ago.

Even after giving up 39 points to the Canes, the Florida State defense still ranks 3rd in the country, allowing just 228.6 yards per game. They also rank in the Top-25 in passing yards allowed (166.2), rushing yards allowed (62.4), and points allowed (15.8).

Aside from the dud against the Demon Deacons, the offense has been surprisingly efficient. RB Antone Smith has racked up 393 yards on the ground in FSU’s five games along with 10 touchdowns. The Noles offense is still only going as far as QB Christian Ponder takes it. In games against FBS teams, he has thrown just one touchdown pass against six interceptions and must improve for Florida State to compete in the ACC.

NC State has covered the spread in three of their L/4 games for college football bettors after opening up its season by getting shut out by South Carolina and narrowly escaping William & Mary. Two weeks ago, the Wolfpack hung tough with Boston College. Though they never led in the game, they also weren’t behind the 7.5-point spread for very long.

QB Russell Wilson had a gutsy game, completing 19 of 33 passes for 218 yards and one passing touchdown to go with two rushing scores, the last of which tied the game at 31-31 with just 3:33 to go, clinching up the cover for NC State bettors.

Still, the core statistics for the Wolfpack are awful, as they rank 114th in the nation in yards per game (275.5) and just 108th in yards allowed (430.2).

The Wolfpack aren’t getting much respect in this one, as they are 11-point home underdogs on the college football betting line; the ‘total’ is set at 47.5.

Florida State has been brutal in ACC play in spite of its victory over Miami two weeks ago. They’re just 3-7-1 ATS in their L/11 conference clashes. The Wolfpack have been notably better, going 6-2 in their L/8. Consider adding North Carolina State to your NCAA football betting card this weekend.

Three of the L/4 meetings between these teams have resulted in ‘under’ games, but of late, both offenses started to put some points on the board.
