Stanford vs USC Betting Preview - Can Stanford Put Up 2 Upsets In A Row?
by Tim Furious

When you’re going through the Pac-10, almost nobody gives Stanford a chance. Yet, those of you that took a flier on the Cardinals must enjoy their 5-2 ATS record over the past 7 games. With Oregon looking to thunder through to the BCS, the Red Birds tripped them up and notched a massive upset last weekend. Can they make it two in a row when they visit the Trojans this weekend?
Comically, the quarterback for Stanford is named Andrew Luck and he’s posted 2,076 yards and 11 touchdowns with just 3 picks. He’s been near perfect with a rating of 153.09 and is giving Stanford hope that they have the better freshman pigskin passer under center. Stanford ranks a respectable 20 th in the league in road passing with 282.3 yards per game, but despite that they’re just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 roadies.
Luck’s incredible play this year has allowed Toby Gerhart to steamroll his way in to the Heisman conversation. With 1,217 yards and 16 touchdowns with zero fumbles in his entire four-year career, Gerhart makes the Cardinals dangerous on the ground. Oregon’s defense couldn’t contain him, and if he manages even half of the production he posted last week then USC is in for a big surprise.

Not helping matters for the freshman led Trojans is that they’re just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 against Stanford. Sure, they’re 6-1 SU but if college football betting is what you’re looking for, then the Cards have the Trojans’ number. USC is also an ugly 1-4 ATS when hosting Stanford. Not good odds for you guys betting on USC.
I would love for Stanford to beat USC and put the Trojans out of contention. I hate that a 7-2 team like USC is ranked so high in the BCS standings because, frankly, they don’t deserve it. Bet Stanford and be happy when they cover…and thrilled when they knock USC off their horse.
Furious Free Pick: Stanford +10.5 (UNDER)
