NFL Insider - Possible Destinations for Larry Johnson

pro football bettors everywhere can be sure that some team will be more than willing to take on Johnson and all of his baggage, probably as soon as possible.
Johnson could be a welcome addition to any one of these teams over the second half of the 2009 NFL regular season.
Denver
The Broncos have the 18th-ranked rushing attack in the league this season despite adding elusive rookie running back Knowshown Moreno with the 12th pick in the 2009 NFL draft. Never was Denver’s need for a running back more evident that it was in their 28-10 Monday Night loss to Pittsburgh. Denver ran the ball just 14 times for a pitiful 27 yards, putting far too much pressure on Kyle Orton and the Broncos’ passing attack in the process. Another huge plus for the Broncos is first-year head coach Josh McDaniels. If McDaniels can handle often-enigmatic wide receiver Brandon Marshall, he should be able to get Johnson’s head on right as well.
Buffalo
The Bills are ranked 19th in rushing the ball this season which is why the Bills haven’t been able to throw the ball very well to Lee Evans or Terrell Owens. The addition of Johnson would likely take pressure off of Trent Edwards and Buffalo’s passing attack. Of course, Johnson is a quitter that only wants to play for a winner, so he’d likely create problems here as well.
Detroit
The Lions have had trouble running the ball all season and Johnson would take a lot of pressure off of young quarterback Matt Stafford, but again, he wants to play for a winning organization so don’t expect to see LJ in a Lions uniform anytime soon.
Cleveland
The Browns are ranked 22nd in rushing this season and their fans should be ready to accept Johnson with open arms as he’d almost assuredly get pathetic head coach Eric Mangini out of town faster than the train-wreck locomotive he’s already riding on.
Tampa Bay
Johnson would also help ease the growing pains of rookie quarterback Josh Freeman with the Buccaneers – or grease the skids for first-year head coach Raheem Morris even more. Take your pick.
Houston
The Texans are a good destination for Johnson. Currently ranked 27th in rushing, Johnson would help Houston’s already explosive offense even more while giving the Texans a nice 1-2 punch by combining with smaller, faster running back Steve Slaton who has struggled mightily this season.
Seattle
The Seahawks are ranked a pitiful 30th in rushing this season and Johnson would be an upgrade over mediocre running back Julius Jones – I think.
San Diego
Believe it or not NFL fanatics, the Chargers are ranked dead last in rushing this season and could use Johnson in a big way LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles each averaging less than four yards per carry. And just think, if Johnson started his foolishness, Shawne Merriman could lay a smackdown on him similar to the one he laid on Hollywood harlot Tila Tequila.
Teams That Could Use Johnson But Likely Won’t Try To Acquire Him
Chicago
The Bears are ranked 28th in rushing and Johnson would be a nice compliment to strong-armed quarterback Jay Cutler who needs all of the offensive help he can get at this point. An added bonus would be the fact that NFL fans everywhere would get to see who’s the bigger whiner in the same backfield, though I will admit that Cutler has been very impressive with his leadership this season.
Indianapolis
The Colts are ranked a 29th despite having arguably the game’s greatest quarterback in Peyton Manning. Of course, Indianapolis is just one of two undefeated teams, so they must be doing something right. Still, this pairing could be profitable for both Johnson and the Colts, though it’s not gonna’ happen. I can see the just headlines if Johnson started ‘acting a fool’ in Indy, Manning Drills Johnson in Back of Head With Perfect Spiral in Practice. Priceless!
Arizona
The Cardinals are pulling their, ‘we-can-win-without-running-the-ball’ act for the second consecutive season, ranking 31st in rushing at the time of this writing despite adding talented rookie running back Chris ‘Beanie’ Wells in this year’s draft.
Oakland
The Raiders are ranked 26th in rushing despite their impressive collection of running backs – and Johnson would fit right in with the collection of other head case talents dotting Oakland’s roster. Oh yeah, he’ll fit right in with the dysfunctional Raiders.
Philadelphia
The Eagles are ranked just 17th in rushing but adding Johnson is not gonna’ happen as Andy Reid and the Eagles organization tend to stay away from questionable character guys like Johnson like the Bubonic Plague. Wait, Michael Vick is on the roster.
Still, I’ve been saying for years that the Eagles need a big back to compliment superstar, Brian Westbrook, but again NFL fans, it’s not gonna’ happen.
