Did you ever think you could be awarded retirement funds from the BetUS sportsbook, under NFL Specials: Player to Retire 1st.
Michael Strahan is favored at +400 to be the next player to hang up the cleats, after a 14-year career in the NFL. The 36-year-old Houston native came into the league in 1993, after being drafted by the New York Giants in the second round.
Throughout the greater part of the 2004 season, Strahan was injured with a torn pectoral muscle. In 2006, he played in just nine games due to a Lisfranc sprain to his right foot.
In early 2007, Strahan's ex-wife received $15 million in a divorce settlement, which was more than half his assets. One must wonder: how much more can the defensive end endure before calling it quits?
Strahan currently has 132.5 career sacks, 794 career tackles, 4 career interceptions, 21 forced fumbles and 2 career touchdowns in 200 games.
Warren Sapp (+500) is next in line picked to retire. Sapp was drafted into the NFL by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 1995 draft (12th pick overall).
The Florida native has appeared in 8 Pro Bowls. His most recent Pro Bowl appearance came last year as an Oakland Raider.
Sapp was sidelined for the last six games of '05 with a shoulder injury, but over his career, he's sustained no other major injuries. The only thing standing between the defensive end and retirement is age, and at 34, it won't be long.
Looking for a long shot to retire next? Try selecting Eli Manning who's the longest shot on the board at +50000.
At the age of 26, the New York Giants quarterback is a baby to the NFL with just three years of playing experience under his belt. Last year, he completed a dismal 57.7 percent of his passes, a five point improvement from 2005, as he struggled badly in the second half of the season.
Another performance like that in 2007 and New York fans may hand him his head in a bag while screaming for him to retire.
All NFL props.
