NFL Week 11 Preview

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

All I can say is that I have been absolutely “on fire” the last two weeks, going 28-2. It’s a damn shame too, because I no longer place wagers anymore, although I don’t exactly know why since I won big money every year.
Whatever the case, here are my week eleven picks. If you want to make some extra Christmas cash, do the smart thing and just go along with my selections and you’ll end up a happy camper.

Carolina -3 At Chicago
In the word of James Taylor. I’ve got Carolina on my mind. The Panthers are hitting their stride at exactly the right time. The Bears have played excellent football this season and have overachieved despite several key injuries. This week however, Da Bears won’t win or cover for that matter. Take the Panthers in one of the easiest picks of the week.

Jacksonville -4 At Tennessee
is atrocious and Jacksonville looks like they are going to win at least 10 games this year. I like the Jags for the easy cover here.

Indianapolis -4.5 At Cincinnati
There is absolutely no reason to think the Indianapolis Colts will lose this game. However, something tells me to take the Bengals. I think maybe they’re too young to actually realize the significance of this game and could actually convince themselves that they can win this game. At any rate, I’ll go against my better judgment and take Cincy although this is a game I wouldn’t be in a rush to put my money on.

At New England -10 New Orleans

Whoosh! Vrooom! Whoosh! What’s that? Oh, the sound of New England Patriots offensive players running by dazed New Orleans defenders. The Pats offense has a field day on this game. Cha ching! Cha ching!

At St. Louis -9 Arizona

Two pitiful teams - only one is more sorrier than the other. Which one? Ha! Your guess is as good as mine. Something tells me the Cardinals have a cover in them for this game so I’ll take Denny’s boys from the desert in this one.

At Atlanta -6 Tampa Bay
I’ve been saying that the Bucs might not win another game if they kept starting Chris Sims at quarterback and the kid made me look foolish last week with a big game. This week however, he’ll be facing a real defense. Take the Falcons to outscore the Bucs in a game that may not be as close as many think it will be.

At Washington -6 Oakland
I love Joe Gibbs and I like the way the Redskins have played for the most part this season. However, this is another game I don’t trust. Yes the Raiders are average at best (and that’s pushing t) but I don’t think they’re that far behind the Redskins actually. It’s too bad they’ve got Norv Turner for a head coach. No matter. The Raiders will find a way to cover in this game and should have a shot at winning outright. I know this prediction will make my brother George, the ultimate Raiders fan happy.

At Dallas -8 Detroit
I kept telling everyone that it was only a matter of time before Bill Parcells turned the Boys into winners again. However, I think the Lions can keep this game inside of ten points (if they try really hard which is no given). Take the Lions to cover in this one but if you’re expecting a win, get real.

At NY Giants -3.5 Philadelphia
The Giants have looked solid all season pretty much. The Eagles are reeling like they got hit by a young George Foreman. Hmm. Sounds pretty simple to me. The G-Men win this by six at the minimum.

At Cleveland -2 Miami
Ooh. The game of the week! Not! Actually, these two teams could be powerhouses in two or three years under the guidance of Romeo Crennel and Nick Saban respectively. I think Miami has a bad taste in their mouths from last week’s close loss to New England. Take the Fish for the outright win. Only because I like Gus Frerotte just a little bit better than Trent “I’ve got a Super Bowl ring” Dilfer.

Seattle -12 At San Francisco
Yup. This game is a no-brainer right? Don’t think so. As well as the Seahawks are playing right now, I’m taking the Niners to cover the big spread here. They may have a poor record but at least head coach Mike Nolan has them playing hard every week. Besides, you never know when the Seahawks are going to start their annual collapse.

At San Diego -10 Buffalo
I like the Chargers. I really do, however, everything about this game screams “cover” for the Bills. Don’t forget, they had the number two defense in the league last season.

At Denver -13 NY Jets
Denver is hitting on all cylinders and the Jets have flamed out quicker than a campfire in a hurricane. So why am I taking the Jets to cover? I don’t have the foggiest idea, but mark my words, they will cover this game. I can feel it in my bones.

Pittsburgh At Baltimore
I have no line on this game.

Kansas City -6.5 At Houston
This game is my lock of the week. There is no way the Chiefs don’t win this by at least 10 points. Simple enough.

Monday Night Football Point Spread

At Green Bay -3.5 Minnesota
I can hear some old western music playing in the background as Brad Johnson rides in to save the day. Take the Vikes to continue making Brett Favre’s season absolutely miserable.
