Brett, I sadly have to concur with Matt: it is time for you to go. However, I don’t think you should ride into the sunset, instead, you should mosey-on over to a team where your considerable remaining skills could be better supported.
There is no denying that your skills are eroding, that your legs won’t let you scramble as much, that the timing just isn’t as sharp as before. But let’s be completely honest, you are not exactly getting the support you need from your offense. For a quarterback who can’t quite scramble so much, the pocket has to be stronger, but your line is not giving you the time you need. For a quarterback who’s defense reading isn’t as sharp, receivers need to run sharp routs and make tough catches, but your receiving core can’t exactly be called sure handed. And finally, when a quarterback is no longer able to carry a team with his arm alone, the running game has to step-up… do I need to even go into that?

So take Matt’s advice, put the six shooter away, saddle-up, and ride… but ride to a team where you can get the support you deserve. NYJ,
Whatever the future holds for you, thanks for the magic memories.
