In what is the first of a regular feature on BetUS, we have compiled our rankings of the NFL teams. Now, this isn’t your typical list. We will go from bottom to top, working our way to the best of what the National Football League has to offer. We put this article in the Face Off section because it is bound to stir up feelings of anger, elation and even intrigue in our members.
The BetUS Week 8 NFL rankings have been based on recent performance, overall team talent and injuries. Our Staff spent countless hours debating the teams and their corresponding spots. In some cases, staff members were even flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Here the rankings for all 32 NFL teams. If you would like to comment on any of the rankings, email FaceOff@BetUS.com and we’ll post your thoughts.
Rank (LW) Team & Reason
32 (32)
They are the only team in the league that is getting blown out consistently. Too many injuries and too little depth.
31 (31)
While they have not won a game, at least they have been relatively close. Still, no offensive line, inconsistent defense and QB play, and a lack of urgency in their play.
30 (30)
Injuries have ravaged this once proud franchise. The QB can still get it done, but he doesn’t have much help left. Terrible defense and few healthy star players on offense spell doom.
29 (29)
Too many people are giving this team credit for their two wins. They will be hard pressed to win another two the rest of the way. The QB position is very weak and the running game is very inconsistent.
28 (28)
They are sinking- and fast. The youngest defense in the league is not handling the NFL’s offenses very well right now. Throw in an average Chris Brown at RB and a hurt Steve McNair, and you have a bad team.
27 (27)
They are putting out a great effort, there’s just not that much there to work with right now. Trent Dilfer needs to retire and the Browns need to finish low in order to rebuild through the draft.
26 (26)
So many great weapons and so many ways to under-utilize them. This is the mantra of the Cardinals. One week the defense is great and one week the offense is great. Too bad it’s never the same week.
25 (25)
They are a talented bunch that are suffering through a tough circumstance. Nevertheless, costly mistakes and some bad luck have rendered them this far down the list.
24 (24)
With a decent QB, this team would probably be a top 12 team. But, turnovers have been the bane of their existence. Their season is fleeting- and fast!
23 (23)
A terrible offense and a great defense. But, you have to figure that the defense is getting tired of covering for the offense. Half-a-team does not make an NFL playoff contender.
22 (22)
The defense is slowly improving and the offense is decent. More running production on a consistent basis is needed, as is better leadership from the top.
21 (21)
20 (20)
They have enough talent to get things done. They now have hope, which is dangerous for every other team in the NFC. If Culpepper can develop a rhythm on offense look out!
19 (19)
This team is built on a conservative offense of pounding the ball and on a playmaking defense. Funny, sounds like every Bears team of the last decade. They are hanging around.
18 (18)
Wow, now that is a bad defense! Their offense will always be able to average at least 20 points per game in a Martz system, but they are like the reverse of the Ravens.
17 (17)
16 (16)
We are not sold on their offense being able to do that (see 49er blowout in Week 7) on a consistent basis. Nevertheless, if they win in Week 8, they’re moving up with a bullet.
15 (15)
The word squander comes to mind.
14 (14)
Now this is a team that’s playing well. They’re coming on like gangbusters and the Broncos should be wary. An improved defense and a steady offense will lead to many more wins for the Chiefs.
13 (13)
Will someone explain this team to us? We believe that Jake Delhomme has held
12 (12)
In a perfect world, this team would be at least 5-2 and not 3-4. But, not being able to play all four quarters has cost them. Still, they have the capability of turning this around, but it has to start now.
11 (11)
Yes, they are 4-2, but are they really this good? Playing
10 (10)
We’re not sure how good this team can be, as they keep losing to good teams and beating up on the weaker ones. But, any time you are leading your division and have great coaching, you belong in the top 10.
9 (9)
You just know that as soon as they are healthy, this team will explode. How long can you keep them down? The division is theirs to lose and everyone will be fearing them come December.
8 (8)
They will win their division and make the playoffs easily. But this is not on account of the Hawks being great, it’s a product of a weak schedule and an easy division.
7 (7)
A pretty tight group that sticks together and follows their young head coach. But, they have to get some more offense out of
6 (6)
If Chris Simms can become the QB they need him to be, then the Bucs will contend for a title. They are close, they just need more out of their special teams and offense every game.
5 (5)
They’re being challenged, are banged up and are squeaking by opponents. Yet, they are right in the thick of everything that matters and will only get better.
4 (4)
A loss in Week 7 was hard fought. This team does not turn the ball over and is getting more than they thought out of their new defensive players. Look for
3 (3)
They miss Burress in the passing game, but they can run over anyone. Look for
2 (2)
They could play much better and that is the scary thing. Michael Vick has been average at best. The Falcons are the class of the NFC to date.
1 (1)
No surprise here. Not losing a single game will land you on top of the rankings. The offense is cranking it up and the defense is holding its own. It could finally be their time- provided they get home field advantage.
