NFL Betting Tips - Week 1 NFC Power Poll
by Charles Jay

The NFC appears to be stacked with a lot of teams that think that they can lift the Lombardi Trophy this season. Find out how BetUS stacks them up for nfl betting fans with this week’s power poll…
1: New York Giants (12-4 ATS, 12-4 SU in 2008) - New York’s three-pronged rushing attack of RBs Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, and Ahmad Bradshaw ran roughshod on the NFL last season, but Ward has now left for Tampa Bay. Will taking WRs Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer out of the mix as well cost the Giants another trip to the playoffs?
Up Next: Home vs. Redskins
2: New Orleans Saints (10-5-1 ATS, 8-8 SU in 2008) - It’s a shame that the Saints finished dead last in the NFC South last season in spite of the fact that QB Drew Brees threw for over 5,000 yards. If the defense can just get a tad better, New Orleans should be marching towards the playoffs again in ’09.
Up Next: Home vs. Lions
3: Philadelphia Eagles (10-6 ATS, 9-6-1 SU in 2008) - The Eagles had to be the longest shot on the board to make the playoffs heading into Week 17 last year, but they not only got in, they nearly won the NFC. With QB Michael Vick and WR/KR Jeremy Maclin in the fold, the Eagles almost certainly have the fastest offense in the league.
Up Next: Away @ Panthers
4: Carolina Panthers (9-6-1 ATS, 12-4 SU in 2008) - Carolina unexpectedly crashed out of the playoffs to the eventual conference champs last season, and many questions have been raised about the jobs of QB Jake Delhomme and HC John Fox. DE Julius Peppers is begrudgingly playing this season. This could all end up in disaster.
Up Next: Home vs. Eagles
5: Atlanta Falcons (9-7 ATS, 11-5 SU in 2008) - The Falcons were the darlings of last season. QB Matt Ryan made a ton of so-called NFL experts look foolish when he led Atlanta to a playoff birth. RB Michael Turner also proved that he was more than just a pretty face sitting behind LT in San Diego by racking up 1,699 yards on the ground. Last year was no fluke.
Up Next: Home vs. Dolphins
6: Arizona Cardinals (9-7 ATS, 9-7 SU in 2008) - The defending NFC champs chime in at #6 this week, but it’s pretty clear that if the Cards play like they did in last year’s playoffs, they’ll be moving up on this list in a hurry. QB Kurt Warner has apparently found the Fountain of Youth, but it really helps that he arguably has the best receiving duo in the league at his disposal.
Up Next: Home vs. 49ers
7: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8 ATS, 9-7 SU in 2008) - All the Bucs had to do to make the playoffs and save HC Jon Gruden’s job last season was to beat the lowly Raiders at home the final week of the season. Not only was Gruden axed, but so were a ton of other veterans. Now, it’s up to the youth of HC Raheem Morris to guide the Bucs’ ship back towards friendly waters. Odds have it, that won’t happen this season.
Up Next: Home vs. Cowboys
8: Green Bay Packers (8-8 ATS, 6-10 SU in 2008) - Look out for the Packers this season! QB Aaron Rodgers quietly evolved into a great signal-caller in his first season as a starter, and now that the whole Brett Favre saga is over a year removed (at least for Green Bay), it’s time to settle down and play some ball. The Pack could very well win a very weak division.
Up Next: Home vs. Bears
And the rest…
9: San Francisco 49ers ( 7-8-1 ATS, 7-9 SU in 2008)
10: Seattle Seahawks ( 7-8-1 ATS, 4-12 SU in 2008)
11: Chicago Bears ( 6-8-2 ATS, 9-7 SU in 2008)
12: Dallas Cowboys (7-9 ATS, 9-7 SU in 2008)
13: Washington Redskins ( 6-8-2 ATS, 8-8 SU in 2008)
14: Detroit Lions (7-9 ATS, 0-16 ATS in 2008)
15: Minnesota Vikings (6-10 ATS, 10-6 SU in 2008)
16: St. Louis Rams (6-10 ATS, 2-14 SU in 2008)
