Bet on NFL Playoffs – Washington Rushes Into Seattle

Bookmark and Share by Russell Edward

The Seahawks, but public perception is driving this one, not reality.

The Redskins new savior at quarterback is someone most people would not recognize. Todd Collins went an NFL-record ten years and three days between starts, but has been playing as if he’d been the starter in Washington for the past few years. His decision-making skills are very good and he has been spreading the ball to all the playmakers on this team: tight end Chris Cooley and wide receivers Moss and Randle-El are all getting in on the action.

Seattle Seahawks –3

The Seahawks will try to pressure Collins right from the start of this game and the Redskins will have to counter this by getting the ground game established early. Clinton Portis has the capability to peel off a huge run every time he has the ball. He is explosive and an all-round player as well, catching passes out of the backfield and providing blocks that many backs simply could not do.

He is spelled by Ladell Betts who runs very fast in open space, and yet is strong inside between the tackles. If he and Portis can get the Skins positive yardage on fisrt and second down, offensive coordinator Al Saunders will be able to get more aggressive with selecting third down plays from his famously huge playbook.

Todd Collins will have to continue to maintain the great play that has gotten the Skins this far. Since Jason Campbell went down with an injury, Collins has impressed everyone with his game-management skills and ball distribution. The transformation from career backup to playoff caliber starter has been nothing short of amazing. Joe Gibbs said he knew Collins had played well in preseason games, bit had thought it was only because he was playing against weaker opponents. In fact, after his first game off the bench, when Campbell went down and Collins led the team to a victory – garnering NFC Offensive Player of the Week in the process – Gibbs was quoted as saying, "I don't know that I've ever had a better performance coming off the bench. Ever.

If you like football betting odds, it should be tough to bet against words like that from the Hall of Fame coach.
