Buccaneers Look To Bounce Back Against Beleaguered Chiefs

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3, 5-3 ATS, 3-5 O/U) looked absolutely awful on offense against the Dallas Cowboys in their last game.

The Kansas City Chiefs, (1-6, 3-4 ATS, 4-3 O/U) have looked awful on both sides of the ball nearly all season long.

Both teams will be trying to get back in the win column on Sunday when they battle at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Buccaneers looked lost offensively in losing to the Dallas Cowboys 13-9 in Week 8, failing to cover the spread as 1-point road underdogs in the BetUS Sportsbook.

NFL sports betting fanatics watched as Buccaneers veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia completed just 28 of 44 passes for 228 yards with no touchdowns and Tampa Bay manage just three field goals and getting shut out in the all-important fourth quarter.

Tampa Bay turned the ball over once on a fumble and was held to a jaw-dropping 48 rushing yards total in the loss while Garcia was sacked three times.

"It was lost in the first half," said Garcia. "We had them on their heels. There were some great drives and we didn't execute. Those missed opportunities ended up haunting us."

The Buccaneers also committed two costly penalties after stopping Dallas on third downs that helped the Cowboys score their only touchdown of the game.

“They got their touchdown in incredible fashion, if you want me to be honest," a none-too-pleased Bucs coach Jon Gruden said afterward.

The Chiefs almost picked up their second win of the season against the New York Jets but ended up losing 28-24 as a 14-point road underdog as Jets quarterback Brett Favre hit wide receiver Laveranues Coles for a game-winning 15-yard touchdown pass with just 1:05 remaining in the game.

Kansas City picked off Favre three times and sacked him once but couldn’t stop him on New York’s final drive.

The Chiefs had some positives even in defeat as young quarterback Tyler Thigpen completed 25 of 36 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns and generally looked poised throughout the game. Thigpen hooked up with Hall of Fame-bound tight end Tony Gonzalez six times for 79 yards and a touchdown.

"Thigpen, for a guy who only started two football games, kept us in the game," said Chiefs coach Herm Edwards, returning to the Meadowlands for the second time since leaving the Jets.

Kansas City played its second straight game without head case running back Larry Johnson who was suspended for violating team rules and will be without their bruising runner again in this contest as Johnson is facing a league-imposed suspension for several off-field altercations involving female patrons at Kansas City-area night clubs.

NFL Odds

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -8½ -110

Kansas City Chiefs +8½ -110

Over 36½ -110

Under36½ -110

Analysis: While the Chiefs played very well against the mediocre Jets last week, I expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to not only win this game for BetUS NFL sports betting fanatics, but also cover the spread as their terrific defense confuses – and shuts down the young Thigpen and the Chiefs’ ordinary offense.

Playing in less than ideal weather conditions should also keep this total score under the set O/U total.
