NFC Hosts Trying To Prove Worthy in Early Games

Bears Showing Claws In Atlanta
The Bears have stunned the betting community behind Kyle Orton’s absurdly productive season thus far. They stand at 3-1-1 ATS and have averaged 25.6 points per game en route to a strong showcasing in the weak NFC North, a division that doesn’t have any clear dominating force. Though wins have been few and far in between for this team on the road, the Bears are still 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games on the road.
Can they continue that stretch as they visit the Atlanta Falcons this weekend? Matt Ryan and the Falcons have defying belief this season by going to a 3-2 SU record, while rewarding their betting faithful along the way. Unfortunately, they’ve dropped two games to NFC South rivals, and have never covered the spread against the Bears. They are 0-4 ATS lifetime against Chicago.
The Bears are simply playing too well defensively to bet against them. Keep your money and side with the Bears.

Saints Go Marching Down The Wrong Path
Everything that could go wrong for the Saints this season, is happening. Maybe it’s an absurd amount of negative energy concerning Jeremy Shockey. Or maybe it has to do with the fact that New Orleans is without their three best receiving threats. Drew Brees can continue to propel this team to a 325.2 passing yard average, but if they can’t keep teams off the board, it will be all for naught.
The good thing for New Orleans is that even more misery is hitting the shores of Oakland. From Lane Kiffen being unceremoniously fired, to Darren McFadden’s toe injury, and the ensuing backfield battle between Fargas-Bush-DMC, things in Oakland seem to be getting worse by the second. They’re currently 2-2 ATS on the season, and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 against New Orleans.
The only thing true about Oakland these days is that they’re a black hole…for success.

Vikings Desperate For Momentum, Visit Detroit
The Vikings turned in a stunner last weekend against New Orleans, lifting their record to 2-3 SU and ATS this NFL betting season. A team that couldn’t get it’s offense in to the redzone found ways to score. Instead of letting Gus hoist the pigskin, they let Chester Taylor. And the special teams came up big.
For those of you squeamish about a double-digit monster spread against Detroit, fret not. The point differential for Detroit is -20.3 this season, and if the Bears can romp this team, there’s no way that they keep pace with Minnesota. Winless season? I wouldn’t bet against it with the way the 0-5 ATS Lions are headed thus far.

Washington Turning Us Into Believers
While I’m not sold on Washington as a legitimate Superbowl contender just yet, I’m willing to go all the way with them against a St. Louis team that has been bordering on the brink of disaster this season. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a team loaded with this much talent fail at such an astonishing rate.
The Rams have gone winless SU and ATS this season and are abysmal on the road. Washington has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings with the Rams (and that was when they were at least decent). While the Redskin have a long way to go before we lump money in the NFL futures for Washington to win the NFC, or the Superbowl, you’d be idiotic to take St. Louis and this sordid stage in the season.
