by Charles Jay

Philadelphia Eagles (5-3 SU & ATS) at San Diego Chargers (5-3 SU, 3-5 ATS)
Sunday, November 15 - 4:15 PM ET
BetUS NFL betting odds: SAN DIEGO -1, Total 47
In the football betting odds, the Chargers are listed as a one-point favorite, with a posted total of 47 points.
Here are some NFL football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
- PHIL has won and covered 11 of its last 16 games
- PHIL has played seven of its last nine games OVER the total
- PHIL has covered 14 of its last 20 road games
- PHIL has won four of its last six road games SU
- SD has covered three of its last nine games
- SD has won 10 of its last 14 games SU
- SD has won 15 of its last 20 home games SU
The San Diego Chargers, who have been the kind of team that has come on in the second half of the season to snag playoff berths in recent years, may be starting a little early this year. Coming out of a bye, then a loss to the Broncos, San Diego destroyed Kansas City, then coasted through a home game with Oakland (which they failed to cover in the NFL betting odds), before going to the Meadowlands and beating the New York Giants. Philadelphia, which had emasculated the Giants the week before, slogged through a defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys.
The struggles of LaDainian Tomlinson continue. The future Hall of Famer is clearly winding down his career, as evidenced by his paltry 3.1 per carry average. last week against the Giants, he had 22 yards on 12 carries. Unfortunately, with Darren Sproles not much of a "between-the-tackles" guy, LT carries the whole San Diego rushing game with him.
I think you've got to attach some importance to the fact that the Eagles have been a pretty good road team, that ill-fated trip to Oakland last month notwithstanding. They have covered ten of their last 12 as a road underdog; they have big play receivers in DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin that are hard to cover; they can rush the passer better in a matchup of offensive lines that are far from healthy, and they can run the Wildcat more effectively with Michael Vick at the helm.
You can be assured Andy Reid is going to change a few things so that the Philadelphia Eagles aren't so flat as they travel west. We really respect what the very accurate Phillip Rivers can do, but we are nonetheless going with the Eagles, the one-point underdog in the BetUS NFL betting odds.
