NFL Betting - Wagering on Peyton, Romo and Brees

Bookmark and Share by Aaron Torres

Even though the season is still a few days away, there’s no need to wait to get into the NFL betting action.

Especially when the BetUS.com sports book offers the opportunity to bet on a ton of great futures right now.

Let’s take a look at some head-to-head quarterback matchups, to see which signal-callers will best each other in touchdown passes this season.

Who’ll Throw More Touchdown Passes:

Peyton Manning -5 TD Passes (-120) or Tony Romo +5 TD Passes (-110)

Why not jump into the NFL Betting action, with one of the most exciting futures bets on board. Who’ll throw more TD passes, the all-time legend Manning, or upstart Romo.

Certainly, you’d think Romo could stay within five of Manning, after finishing 2009 with 26 TD tosses. He brings back one of the deepest receiving corps in football, with Miles Austin having made 11 touchdown grabs a year ago, in addition to Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton, rookie Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten, all vying for catches from one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Of course it’s hard to bet against Manning and the Colts either. Peyton threw for 33 touchdowns a year ago, and returns every receiver of note, including Pierre Garcon, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and a healthy Anthony Gonzalez.

Both quarterbacks are going to be excellent in 2010, but the play here is with Romo. Dallas is going to have one of the most explosive offenses in football this year, and because they play in a tough division, Romo will have to bring it all 16 weeks.

As great as Manning is- and he will be again this year- you’ve got to wonder if he and the Colts will have the AFC South wrapped up with two games to go, like they have in the past.

Drew Brees -7 TD Passes (-110) or Eli Manning +7 TD Passes

In our second look at the NFL Online Betting, we’ll stay in the Manning family, but switch over to Eli, who is looking to put a disappointing 2009 season behind him.

It won’t be easy, as this Giants team still hasn’t seemed to find a deep play threat since Plaxico Burress got shipped off to jail a little over a year ago. It showed last season, as Manning threw for a career-high 27 touchdowns, but the Giants limped to just an 8-8 record.

As for Brees, well, we all know what he did down in the Big Easy, throwing for 34 touchdowns and 4,388 yards. There’s no shortage of receiving talent back in New Orleans this year, with Devery Henderson, Marques Colston, Robert Meachem and tight end Jeremy Shockey all having caught at least 45 balls last year.

However, the suggested play here will be to take Manning.

We’re not saying that he’s going to have the better year overall, or that the Giants will be any better than they were a year ago. But his touchdown numbers were at an all-time high this year, and with everyone overlooking New York, I expect the “other,” Manning to have a monster 2010 campaign.
