NFL Free Betting Picks - Week 14

Minnesota Vikings @ Carolina Panthers on Sunday, December 10th @ 13:00 EST.
When are the Vikings going to get a little respect from the odds makers? This line opened with Carolina as the favorite!? It quickly jumped to -2.5 for the Vikings but I still think that's disrespect. The Vikings manhandled this team in Carolina last year and they're going to do it again on Sunday. I love what this Mike Zimmer-coached defense is doing. Take the Minnesota Vikings ML.

Listen, I get it. You have trouble betting on a team with Case Keenum under center. But Keenum is exactly the type of quarterback built for this defense. He doesn't take unjustified risks and, thus, he doesn't turn the ball over and give up easy points to opposing offenses. This team is built for the playoffs. Look out for my boy, cornerback Trae Waynes out of Michigan State. I've been preaching about this guy since his rookie season. He could be special.

The Panthers are pretenders. Check their schedule, they haven't beaten anyone and the injuries are wracking up on defense. I like Cam Newton but he's got no other weapons. Vikings Roll.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, December 10th @ 16:25 EST.
Long-time readers of this column (i.e. all of you) will know that I preach one rule above all: The Trend. When any team in any sport goes on a lengthy winning streak (five games or more) and then loses a game, you bet hard against them in the subsequent game. The trend was in play last week for the Saints (winners of seven straight before a loss to the Rams). They defied the trend and won. Now, the trend does not take kindly to this and the trend does not lose two in a row. I love the Los Angeles Rams ML.

I think Seattle may have exposed some weaknesses in Philly. When their high-powered offense can't keep their defense off the field, they will lose ball games. Sure, Philly can steamroll weak squads, but they're now 1-2 against teams with winning records. Don't get me wrong, Carson Wentz is a beast (did you see that one throw on Sunday??). But this is a terrible spot for the Eagles playing back-to-back games on the Left Coast. I've been burned by the Rams all season. I'm finally a believer.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, December 10th @ 20:30 EST.
To be honest, as much as I love these AFC North slugfests, I'm sort of disappointed the Eagles-Rams game wasn't flexed into this spot. At least we don't have to see a terrible squad like the Dolphins play in prime time…oh wait. Nonetheless, it will be great to see that Killer B's offense from Steel Town face off against Terrell Suggs and the boys for the umpteenth time. I don't see how you can pick against Pittsburgh these days. I'm buying the hook and taking the Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5).

As a Pats hater, I'm terrified we could see Brady adding a ring to his other hand. The only squad with even a glimmer of hope of taking out the Pats would be the Steelers and I think that they'll need to have home field advantage. No way Pittsburgh can go into Foxborough and emerge victorious (see Week 15). That's why it is imperative that the Steelers keep winning to keep pace. I don't think they'll take this one lightly. Meanwhile, Joey Flaccid, sorry, Flacco finally looked like his old self last week against the Lions. That's simply a mirage. This young Steelers defense is going to feast. Steelers cruise to victory.
