NFL Proving Grounds – Eagles Battle Chargers In San Diego
by Tim Furious

I told you that the Eagles had plenty to prove because they hadn’t beaten anyone of note unless you count a reeling New York Giants team. Well the betting community received notice in the Sunday Night betting matchup against Dallas that Philadelphia is a team that typically can beat the living crap out of bad teams, but can’t get their act together against good teams. The question is: which kind of team is San Diego?
The Chargers pulled up their socks to outlast the Giants last week in a 21-20 win and are now 2-3 ATS in their last 5 with a three-game winning streak in tow. Despite Philly’s 11-5 ATS record in their last 16 games, I am absolutely terrified of a streamlined Chargers’ offense at home. I just am. There’s something about Qualcomm that makes the Chargers thrive. They’re 15-5 SU in their last 20 games at home, and the oddsmakers have pegged this game as a virtual pick ‘em.
Philadelphia Eagles (5-3) vs. San Diego Chargers (5-3)

NFL Betting Line: San Diego -1 (47)
The Chargers are 4-1 ATS against the Eagles, but don’t put too much stalk in that since the last time these two met was in 2005. These are completely different teams now. San Diego is a squad that has been together for years, while Philadelphia has only put this new squad together in the last two years. Despite the presence of Westbrook and McNabb, this team is filled to the brim with new names on offense like Jackson, McCoy, Celek and Maclin.
On top of that, Philly just doesn’t travel well. The last time they were in California they were embarrassed by Tom Cable and the Raiders. The Eagles have to beat a credible challenger before I put any stock in them. Side with the home team and throw this game in the OVER as I think one of these teams puts up 30-points easily.
