NFL Week 10 Wagering - Carolina Panthers vs. Oakland Raiders

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

How bad are the Oakland Raiders? Plenty bad. Trust me. Plenty bad. For sports betting fans, a team can’t be worse in the NFL right now than the Oakland Raiders. They are absolutely atrocious. They have trouble moving the ball on offense and their defense can’t stop anybody.

The Raiders did pull an online wagering miracle two weeks ago by beating the New York Jets straight-up but I doubt they’ve got another one of those in the tank. The Raiders are a dysfunctional organization. The dysfunction of their organization highlights the fact that they really don’t have the right mix of players on either offense or defense.

The Carolina Panthers are a solid football team. Their defense is playing well and Steve Smith, their fantastic wide receiver, is starting to get into the offense more. With Smith and quarterback Jake Delhomme clicking, things have opened up for the Panthers’ running game. Rookie Jonathan Stewart has been good this season and DeAngelo Williams is a very decent running back. This team will be looking to score often and early. That wouldn’t bother most football betting fans in this game.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game.

Kick-off: 11/09/2008 4:05 pm est.

Carolina Panthers - 10 ½ - 110 - 450 O 37 ½ - 110

Oakland Raiders + 10 ½ - 110 + 350 U 37 ½ - 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game.

The Carolina Panthers are 2 and 5 against the spread in their last 7 games on the road.

The Under is 6 and 1 in the Carolina Panthers last 7 games.

The Oakland Raiders are 9 and 25 against the spread in their last 34 games at home.

The Under is 4 and 1 in the Oakland Raiders last five games following a straight-up loss.

The Raiders pretty much have no offense. Carolina can put up points but they will more than likely try to control the clock in this game since, well, the Raiders have no offense. Why worry about trying to score quickly? Wear down the Raiders’ defense and then beat them up in the fourth quarter.

Unless the Panthers put up at least 30 by themselves, I don’t see this game going over the 37 ½. I see the Panthers maybe getting 20 and the Raiders hovering around 3 or 7 in this thing.

I’ll be making an online bet on the game between the Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders to go under 37 ½ points.
