NFL Week 11 Parlay Pick - Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants

Sunday, November 22 – 1:00 PM ET
East Rutherford, Giants Stadium
NFL Point Spread: Giants -6.5, O/U: 46

Atlanta came into the season a possible Super Bowl favorite, but has done little to inspire so far this year. Matt Ryan, last season’s golden boy quarterback, has hit a rough patch, throwing eight interceptions in his last four games. He has 13 picks overall this year after throwing only 12 last season. Add the fact that Michael Turner is possibly out with an ankle sprain he suffered last Sunday, and the Falcons are in tough on the road.

The Giants’ bye week couldn’t have come at a better time. They had lost four straight, including a last minute heartbreaker at home against San Diego, after starting the season 5-0. Tom Coughlin, who is known as one of the more hard-nosed coaches in the league, gave his team most of the week of. That alone should give one the impression that the New York Giants are as confused as anyone over their current slide.

What The Falcons Have To Do To Win

If Michael Turner is indeed out for the game, the Falcons will turn to Jason Snelling to carry the load. Don’t be embarrassed, no one outside of the Greater Atlanta Area has heard of him either. Snelling isn’t a horrible runner, but nowhere near the level the Falcons have been getting all season. If Matt Ryan was going to break out of his slump, now would be the time to do it. It won’t help playing against a Giants defense that is probably a little ticked off after spending a week listening to pundits question their skill.

What The Giants Have To Do To Win

They’re lucky to be facing a banged up and underachieving Falcons team. A loss here would destroy any morale this team may have left, and everyone on the Giants knows that. The key to the offensive game will be on the ground. Last week the Falcons gave up 185 yards on the ground to Carolina, and the Giants boast one of the more impressive backfields in the game. Granted, Brandon Jacobs hasn’t had a 100-yard game yet and Ahmad Bradshaw’s production has dipped, but there is enough talent to break out at any time. This Sunday would probably be a good time for the duo.

Outlook and Pick

Both teams are heavily underachieving so far this year, but the Giants seem more motivated for a comeback. The Giants are losing heartbreakers; the Falcons are just losing. New York still has a chance to win their division; Atlanta may be disheartened just by being in the same division as the 9-0 Saints. Ryan is clearly going through a sophomore slump, and the Giants are just talented enough to be able to fully exploit that.

Pick: Giants -6.5, and under 46

The Giants have the raucous home crowd behind them and have spent a week getting pumped up for a big start to gain some momentum. The Giants are going to come out hot; the only question will be if they’ll be able to sustain it.
