NFL Week 13 Parlay - New Orleans Saints (-9.5) vs. Washington Redskins

New Orleans to Gut Defensively Crippled Washington

The Saints have perhaps been playing the most complete football in the entire league right now. Passing, running, defense and special teams have all bee incredible this year and although their schedule has been somewhat soft they proved their gusto by decimating the New England Patriots at home last week on Monday Night Football.

On a short week, they’re getting a big spread to cover against Washington in FedEx Field, but they’re incredible success overall, and on the betting line, should be a comforting thought this weekend.

The entire defense of Washington is a mess. DeAngelo Hall, who relies entirely on speed, is hampered by an ankle injury and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is also not at 100%. The Redskins are just 5-11-3 ATS in their last 19 games, making them one of the worst bets in football.

To top things off, they’re just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games. If they play to their potential, like they did last weekend against Philadelphia, they can be a decent team, but consistency has never been the mark of Washington over the past three years.

Against New Orleans, however, they’ve had some remarkable success. They’re 10-3 SU in 13 games overall and 4-2 ATS in their last six matchups. Does that matter? Not really. This New Orleans team is serious gangbusters and they’ve gone 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games.

The two games I was nervous about with New Orleans were the New York Giants and the New England Patriots, and the Saints made me look like a complete dumbass in both of those games. I’m not betting against them until they lose a game.

New Orleans’ offense has been the talk of the NFL betting community this entire season. They lead the league in scoring with 37.0 points per game and on the road their passing game is ranked 11th, with their dynamic rushing game ranked second overall. Whether Albert Haynesworth plays or not is inconsequential because Reggie Bush, Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas can rip this rush defense to shreds.

If there’s any team that’s been defying the betting odds this season, it’s the high powered offense of the Saints. Their three-pronged rushing attack is complimented by a seven-pronged passing game that boasts guys like Marques Colston and the suddenly stealthy red-zone target of Robert Meachem.

Bet Saints this weekend and don’t even worry for a moment. This is a team that can push the OVER virtually by themselves.
