The Giants entered this Week 13 football match-up with the division rival Cowboys in dire need of a win just to remain competitive in the NFC Playoff picture. QB Eli Manning led the charge on the game’s opening possession that saw K Lawrence Tynes cap it off with a 29-yard FG after NY failed to get the job done in the red zone.
The lead was short lived however, as the Cowboys marched right down the field on an 11-play drive that saw them pass and run all over the Giants defense. WR Roy Williams caught his second TD in as many weeks when he and QB Tony Romo connected on a 12-yard score in the back of the end zone. HC Wade Phillips then saw his special teams give up a huge return on the kick-off, and before you knew it, the Giants reclaimed the lead when RB Brandon Jacobs rumbled in from 8-yards out.
NY held a 3-point lead after one quarter of play. NY’s defense flexed its muscles throughout the next 15 minutes of play by keeping the Cowboys off the scoreboard and forcing a turnover that led directly to their only three points of the quarter. NY led 13-7 at the break.
Dallas moved right down the field on their opening possession of the 3rd quarter, but couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone and instead had to settle for a FG to cut the lead to 3 with 11+ minutes remaining in the quarter.

NY then coughed up a crucial turnover deep in their own territory, and the Cowboys tied it up seven plays later when K Nick Folk’s 36-yarder split the uprights. The game was tied at 13-apiece going into the final quarter of play.
After a three and out, the Cowboys made a huge mistake by turning it over when RB Marion Barber was stripped of the ball at DAL’s own 33-yard line. Manning made them pay dearly after his RB corps got him into the RZ when he connected with WR Steve Smith for the go ahead score with just 4 minutes remaining. Dallas found itself in comeback mode late in the game just like they were against Washington a couple weeks ago.
Long story short, Dallas got into NY’s red zone with better than a minute to play. They got down to NY’s 7-yard line on a run and dump off pass to Barber. Then, like he has throughout the Cowboys L/7 games, WR Miles Austin stepped up huge. He got into the EZ on a quick screen that saw him juke a NY defender out of his cleats and just get the pigskin over the goal line fully outstretched with 10 seconds left.
All that was left to do was convert the extra point, & OT awaited. Easier said than done however as the Giants got a great surge and a NY defender got his paw on the pigskin enough to deflect it wide left. The Meadowlands erupted as NY won both SU and ATS in shocking fashion!!!
