NFL Week 13 XBOX Simulation Pick - Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

Week 13 of the pro football betting battle; kick-off is set for 1:00 ET and can be seen nationally on FOX.

Philadelphia won 27-14 as 9.5 point home favorites in last year’s meeting, but ATL backers suffered a brutal defeat ATS when the Falcons muffed a punt late that allowed Philly to earn the front door cover. Philly’s 10-2 ATS its L/12 Week 13 games, but just 1-4 ATS the L/5 times it took on a +.500 opponent. ATL’s a perfect 4-0 ATs following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS its L/5 home games, but are just 2-7-1 ATS the L/10 times they matched up against Philadelphia.

Both the Eagles and Falcons head into their Week 11 football betting match-up looking to build upon last week’s home victories.

The entire first half was a snooze fest that saw both clubs fail to gain more than 100 yards. The kickers ruled the first 30 minutes as both David Akers and the newly acquired Matt Bryant converted both of their FG attempts. The teams went into the break tied at six.

The Falcons took the lead less than five minutes into the 3rd quarter when QB Chris Redman connected with WR Michael Jenkins on a 7-yard pass and catch for a TD after Philly turned the ball over for the second time in its own territory.

The Eagles countered right back when QB Donovan McNabb drove the Eagles 77-yards in 5-plays and capped the drive with a 13-yard TD pass to TE Brent Celek. The scoring continued late in the 3rd when a slip screen to WR Roddy White went for a 33-yard TD scamper after the Falcons defense forced yet another turnover. ATL held a 20-13 lead going into the final quarter of play even though they were outgained by a 3:1 margin.

Philadelphia and the Eagles ground attack aided by RB LeSean McCoy took advantage of the Falcons overcompensating in the secondary and got out to midfield on three plays on their next possession.

WR Jeremy Maclin got them in the red zone on his 4th reception of the day, and the Eagles tied the game up when McNabb hooked up with WR Jason Avant from 8-yards out. Atlanta looked to be well on its way towards taking the lead on its very next possession after it got out to Philly’s 40, but a delayed blitz cut Redman off guard and he was stripped of the ball from behind. Philly pounced on it and set their offense up 1st and 10 from their own 45 with 2:17 left in the game.

McNabb and McCoy were simply in tune with one another as the Eagles moved into ATL territory and into the red zone on a bunch of dump-offs, draws, and a screen that went for 17 yards. Already void of timeouts, ATL HC mike Smith could do nothing to ice Akers who calmly nailed the 32-yarder as time expired to give the Eagles the hard fought road win. ATL reeled in the NFL pointspread cover however in a game they were dominated in statistically
