Week 16 of the NFL sports betting season kicks off on Friday night when the San Diego Chargers (11-3, 7-7 ATS) invade LP Field to go at it with the Tennessee Titans (7-7, 6-8 ATS) in an AFC non-divisional pro football betting battle; kick-off is set for 7:30 ET and can be seen nationally on the NFL Network.

The first 15 minutes of this Week 16 pro football betting battle was mostly a snoozer with Tennessee grabbing a 3-0 lead on a K Rob Bironas 49-yard FG, but the 2nd quarter more than made up for it.

SD tallied the first TD of the game when QB Phillip Rivers connected with WR Vincent Jackson from on an exhilarating 51-yard pass and catch, but Tennessee answered right back when QB Vince Young and RB Chris Johnson hit pay dirt on a 14-yard screen pass. The Chargers retook the lead when rivers tossed his 2nd TD of the game to WR Malcolm Floyd, but RB Chris Johnson answered with his 2nd TD of the game on a 21-yard dash to the end zone. Bironas tacked on another FG before the break giving the Titans the 20-14 lead at the half.

TEN struck first in the 3rd quarter when “VY” hit rookie WR Kenny Britt on a 7-yard fade to increase the lead to 13, but SD cut it to 10 when K Nick Kaeding split the uprights from 45-yards out.

SD cut the lead to a FG at the 10 minute mark of the 4th quarter, but Tennessee never let them get any closer. Bironas nailed his third FG of the game to extend the lead to 6-points, and TEN then took advantage of SD’s only turnover of the game on the Chargers next drive.

TEN took over at their own 38-yard line when Rivers’ pass was deflected into the waitful arms of CB Cortland Finnegan. RB Johnson wasted no time in administering the death blow on the very next play when he sauntered 62-yards to pay dirt to keep the Titans post-season dreams intact.

HC Fisher’s men were simply outstanding in this match-up as they dominated offensively and didn’t allow the Chargers potent offense many chances defensively. QB Vince Young had another solid outing throwing for 300+ and 2 TDs, but RB Chris Johnson made an even better case to earn MVP honors with another 200+ yards rushing and receiving and 3 TDs.

Now SD has to win next week at home against Washington to guarantee themselves a 1st round bye. Tennessee must win in Seattle and hope it wins out in the tie breaker formulas to pull off one of the most impressive feats in NFL history. Go Titz!!!
