by BetUS Staff

As you may know by now, the good folks at college football betting teams that are in the same area.
In today's analysis, we take a look at the Kansas City Chiefs, who are in the opinion of many, an NFL club that is going to have to take at least a step or two back before taking steps forward.
Here are the odds according to BetUS:
BetUS Football Proposition Odds
Who Will Have the Most Regular Season Wins?
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS +2 wins -165
KANSAS JAYHAWKS -2 wins +125
The Kansas program admittedly feasted on some light snacks in the early part of the 2007 campaign, taking the measure of Missouri. But Kansas got the BCS bid after Missouri lost to Oklahoma in the conference title game.
They're bringing back six starters on offense and eight on defense, and quarterback Todd Reesing is considered by many to be a prime candidate for the Heisman. In other words, this team, which scored a 24-21 win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, is going to be strong again.
But they are probably not going to have a one-loss regular season again. The Jayhawks open with a couple of games in Florida International and Louisiana Tech, and also play Sam Houston State, but they have to visit South Florida, Oklahoma and a Nebraska team that is probably revitalized. They have Texas Tech and Colorado, two improved teams, at home, and play at a neutral site (Kansas City) against Missouri in the season finale.
Even with that tougher slate, I would say there are a minimum of eight wins in there. This team, which averaged 43 points a game, has too much talent to collapse.
This leads us to the question of how many games the Chiefs can win.
In my opinion, they will have to win at least six games to even keep themselves in the running for this prop. The "youth movement" initiated by management and coach Herm Edwards that will be a difficult feat to accomplish. First of all, they will be lacking at the quarterback position if they insist on sticking with Brodie Croyle throughout all or most of the season. He'd have to show tremendous improvement and readiness if he is to get this team near wild card contention. The Chiefs' offensive line is being rebuilt, but in the early going it may have to operate without one of the new component parts, as Brandon Albert, who was counted on to be the left tackle, is most likely going to miss all of training camp.
Even with potent offensive weapons like tight end Tony Gonzalez, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and running back Larry Johnson, this team will suffer without the right trigger man. And if one of them goes down for any length of time, you will see a precipitous drop.
There is some youthful talent on defense, and we will look for Glenn Dorsey to lay the groundwork for the development of a defensive line that can stop some people. Other rookies like Brandon Flowers ought to acquit themselves well. But make no mistake about it - this is a rebuilding season, which is one of the reasons Edwards was probably not happy when Chad Pennington was picked up on waivers by the Dolphins, because he could have used the veteran arm.
I see more upside with Kansas, and will be happy to lay a couple of wins and grab the price of +125 in this special BetUS NCAA football proposition.
