NFC North Boxed Forecast
1st Packers-2nd Bears +225
1st Packers-2nd Vikings +450
Analysis: The Green Bay Packers may or may not have a Super Bowl hangover after winning it all in 2010, but I suspect they'll be just fine with their absolutely loaded roster.
I like the Packers to win the NFC North again in 2011, but the fight for second place should be a battle between the Bears and Vikings. Either way, the NFL Futures Odds for the NFC North division are stunning if you ask me.
I'm going Packers to finish first and the revamped Vikings to pass the Bears in the race for second place.
NFC South Straight Forecast
1st Saints- 2nd Falcons +225
1st Falcons- 2nd Buccaneers +600
1st Buccaneers- 2nd Saints +800
Analysis: Is the NFC South the best division in all of football? I think so. With three teams that recorded double digit win totals a year ago, the NFC South figures to be a flat-out fight to the finish that could very well come down to the final regular season game.
I'll be totally honest (as always) with my NFL betting brethren by saying that I fully believe the Saints, Falcons - and blossoming Tampa Bay Buccaneers - could all find their way to a division title this coming season.
While my personal preference is to see the young Bucs get the job done and become a legitimate NFC title contender, I don't think they're quite ready just yet (one more season).
I'm going to go with a projected finish of the Saints first and the Buccaneers second. I absolutely love Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, but I'm not real fond of Atlanta's defense and I believe they could take a slight step backwards in 2011 to finish behind Tampa Bay.
AFC East Straight Forecast
1st Patriots- 2nd Jets -125
1st Jets - 2nd Patriots +225
Analysis: NFL gamblers have a fairly easy pick in this 'two-team' AFC East divisional race with the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills being mediocre and atrocious respectively.
In addition to the above divisional odds, NFL gamblers can also get the Jets and Pats as a boxed pick at -300. However, I'm going with the top pick on the board here with New England winning the division and the J-E-T-S coming in a close second.
AFC West Boxed Forecast
1st Chargers- 2nd Chiefs +200
1st Chiefs- 2nd Chargers +500
Analysis: The Chiefs won the AFC West last season with the Chargers finishing second a year ago, but I believe these two will flip-flop order in 2011 with the Chargers challenging for a berth in the AFC title game. While I like the Chargers to finish first and the Chiefs to finish second, I'll admit that either Oakland or Denver could very well challenge Kansas City for second place in the division.
AFC North Straight Forecast
1st Ravens-2nd Steelers +140
1st Steelers -2nd Ravens +125
Analysis: The NFC North is a lot like the AFC East where there are really just two teams that have a legitimate chance to win the division. The Steelers and Ravens will finish 1-2 in this division, making this divisional forecast a pick on just which team you like better this coming season. I say keep it simple and play the Ravens to finish first with the Steelers coming in second place, thanks to their requisite Super Bowl hangover.
