This look at Sunday’s NFC championship props, followed by my expert NFL analysis and free picks, is sure to delight NFL gamblers that love the ‘game within the game’.

Double Result

The Saints and Vikings are both explosive offensive teams, but only one team in this matchup has a top-10 defense and it’s not the Saints.  I like the Vikings to win and cover if you don’t already know.

NFL Expert Picks: Vikings-Vikings

First to score

This selection is really like throwing darts – with a blindfold on. Whichever teams gets the ball first will likely put points on the board first. I’m going with the Vikings here simply because I believe they have the better defense and will stop the Saints a couple of more times than they get stopped themselves.

Peterson Rushing

Peterson hasn’t topped the 100-yard plateau in eight consecutive games, but I say he’s going over 100 yards in this contest. New Orleans ranked a dismal 22nd in stopping the run this season (122.6 ypg) and haven’t shown much ability to stop mediocre running backs, more or less one of Peterson’s stature. I like ‘All Day’ to land somewhere between 101-111 yards.

NFL Expert Picks: Peterson 101-111 rushing yards

Winning Margin

Bettors that like the Saints to win this game won’t like my winning margin pick, but I’m sticking to my guns when I say the Vikings win by 4-6 points. I believe Minnesota’s superior defense and balanced offensive attack will be just a bit too much for the Saints to overcome in this contest.

NFL Expert Picks: Vikings by 4-6 Points

Drew Brees Completions

Brees averaged 24.2 completions per game this season but I think he tops that number in this contest as he averaged 30.5 completions in the team’s two losses he started. This is a tough pick unless you’re a psychic, but I’m taking Brees to complete a dead-even 30 passes.

NFL Expert Picks: Brees 30 Completions

Highest scoring quarter

Both teams scored more points in the second quarter than any other period this season. Minnesota gave up its most points in the fourth quarter (106) while New Orleans gave up the majority of their points allowed in the first quarter (99).

I’m going to play it safe and play the average here and roll with the second quarter.

NFL Expert Picks: Second Quarter
