NFL Prop Betting – Tom Brady Vs. The NFL’s Best QB’s

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

The New England Patriots will have starting quarterback Tom Brady back on the field this season after Brady, arguably the game’s best quarterback, missed nearly the entire 2008 season after going down in the Patriots’ season opener with a season-ending ACL injury.

Now, thanks to the clever oddsmakers at BetUS.com, NFL sports betting enthusiasts everywhere can cash in on Brady’s comeback season with some wise wagers on Brady’s entertaining, season-long player vs. player NFL Props Odds in the easy-to-navigate, BetUS Sportsbook.

With the 2009 NFL regular season just days away from getting started, let’s get busy.

Brady vs. Brees Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots +1 TD Passes -120
Drew Brees ~ Saints -1 TD Passes -120

Analysis: While Tom Brady tossed an NFL record 50 touchdown passes in 2007, for the three seasons prior to that, Brady averaged 26.0 touchdown passes per season. Now coming off a serious knee injury, I expect Brady to throw right around that many touchdowns in 2009. With New England being a better balanced offensive team that will likely run the ball more than New Orleans, I like Drew Brees, who tossed 34 touchdowns last season, to beat out Brady here and cover the spread.

NFL Pick: Drew Brees -1 TD Pass

Brady vs. P Manning Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots +2 TD Passes -120
Peyton Manning ~ Colts -2 TD Passes -120

Analysis: While Tom Brady has thrown an even 100 touchdown passes over his last three full seasons, compared to Peyton Manning’s 89 total touchdown passes over the same span, I like Manning to cover the spread here narrowly as he tops the 30-touchdown plateau and Brady falls just short of that mark. Take Manning here to cover the 2-touchdown spread narrowly.

NFL Pick: Peyton Manning -2 TD Passes

Brady vs. Palmer Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots -4½ TD Passes -120
Carson Palmer ~ Bengals +4½ TD Passes -120

Analysis: While Tom Brady will be trying to regain his form after his serious knee injury, so is Carson Palmer after playing in just four games last season. While Palmer is an absolutely fine quarterback when healthy, the difference here will be in each player’s team. Brady has two top-notch receivers in Randy Moss and Wes Welker while Palmer has Chad Ocho Cinco to throw to as his best option. Still, NFL sports betting enthusiasts, I think Palmer will have enough juice to cover the high spread here as he tossed 86 touchdown passes over his last three full seasons.

NFL Pick: Carson Palmer +4½ TD Passes

Brady vs. Cutler Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots -3½ TD Passes -130
Jay Cutler ~ Bears +3½ TD Passes -110

Analysis: Chicago’s Jay Cutler may have one of the strongest arms in the game today, but I’m going with Tom Brady to cover the spread here as Cutler adjusts to a new team and city – and quickly finds out that Chicago’s receiving corps are lacking talent in a big way. Cutler has tossed 45 TD passes over the last two seasons, but I say he’s falls agonizingly short of covering the spread here.

NFL Pick: Tom Brady -3½ TD Passes

Brady vs. Ryan Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots -5½ TD Passes -140
Matt Ryan ~ Falcons +5½ TD Passes EV

Analysis: Tom Brady is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the game today, but I like Atlanta’s Matt Ryan to cover the big spread here despite throwing just 16 TD passes last season. Ryan, one of the best young quarterbacks to play in the league in recent memory, will also have future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez to throw to this season, which will undoubtedly increase his touchdown pass production. It’s going to be close BetUS NFL sports betting members, but I say take Matt Ryan here as he goes well over the 20-touchdown mark for the first time.

NFL Pick: Matt Ryan +5½ TD Passes

Brady vs. Rodgers Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots -1½ TD Passes -130
Aaron Rodgers ~ Packers +1½ TD Passes -110

Analysis: This pick looks like an absolute lock for Aaron Rodgers fans and Green Bay Packers backers as Rodgers is clearly blossoming into one of the best quarterbacks in the game today. Rodgers tossed a whopping 28 TD passes last season despite playing for a Green Bay squad that went just 6-10 and had plenty of shortcomings and will certainly approach or surpass that number again in 2009 barring an unforeseen injury. Take Aaron Rodgers to cover the spread here with room to spare BetUS NFL sports betting members.

NFL Pick: Aaron Rodgers +1½ TD Passes

Brady vs. Rivers Most Touchdown Passes
Tom Brady ~ Patriots -1½ TD Passes -120
Philip Rivers ~ Chargers +1½ TD Passes -120

Analysis: San Diego’s Philip Rivers tied New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees for the league lead in touchdown passes last season with a career-high 34 and should approach or surpass those numbers again in 2009. With Brady coming off his torn ACL and Rivers leading the league in TD passes, I’m surprised that Brady is favored here while being named the underdog against Brees. Oh well, take Rivers to cover the spread here easily.

NFL Pick: Philip Rivers +1½ TD Passes
