Super Bowl XLIII Power Rankings

This weekend is the NFL Hall-of-Fame game pitting the NFL odds and college football betting games this year!

This is the weekend that all of us BetUS online sportsbook fans have been waiting for! Whether we make an online wager on the NFL Hall-of-Fame game or not doesn’t really matter. The fact that football is back means we’re ready to do some serious online gambling!

It’s also a good time to start taking a look at the NFL Super Bowl Power Rankings.

Let’s get to the rankings!

NFL Super Bowl Power Rankings

1. Pittsburgh Steelers - - online odds + 2000 - - The Steelers will be much better on offense, maybe better on defense but not worse, and Coach Mike Tomlin has a year under his belt. Sean Payton for the New Orleans Saints had a bad sophomore season as a head coach. Uh, he didn’t have the type of defense that the Steelers have. Tomlin will improve as a coach and the Steelers drafted a plethora of weapons for Big Ben to throw to. Rashard Mendenhall, Willie Parker, Limas Sweed and Hines Ward? Are you kidding me? This team is loaded and the online odds make them the best wager on the board.

2. Indianapolis Colts - - online odds + 750 - - The Colts will be back better than ever this season. They didn’t lose much from the Super Bowl team of two years ago and there’s no doubt that they should improve in the defensive backfield with their cornerbacks getting a year under their belts as starters. That could make the difference in Tony Dungy’s Tampa 2 defense. I like the Colts to face the Steelers in the AFC Championship game…right now. An injury to Peyton could change that, but the online odds are fair at this point.

3. New Orleans Saints - - online odds + 2500 - - They go three deep at the running back position with Deuce McCallister, Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas. All three provide excellent options for Drew Brees. All indications from training camp are that last year’s number one pick, wide receiver Robert Meacham, has looked fantastic. Jeremy Shockey is going to be money down the middle for Coach Sean Payton and Drew Brees. What about the defense? Jonathan Vilma is back from his injury so the middle linebacker position got a serious upgrade. The cornerbacks will be better. At the online betting odds of + 2500 this team looks super solid to make a Super Bowl run.

4. Super Bowl.

5. San Diego Chargers - - online odds + 750 - - Ditto everything I wrote about the Cowboys except replace Jessica Simpson with bratty attitude having jerk and you get the Chargers. Phil Rivers is that bratty attitude having jerk. This team is perfect in almost every other position. Yeah, but quarterback sort of means something at the end, right? Rivers is the kind of guy what would get into a fist-fight with a Girl Scout over the cost of her cookies.

6. Washington Redskins - - online odds + 4000 - - Want a legitimate longshot in the NFC with a terrific defense and a better then appearing offense? Look no further than the Redskins who will have a much improved offensive scheme under former quarterback Jim Zorn then they did under Joe Gibbs. Zorn is an offensive genius and everything out of Redskins’ camp has Jason Campbell improving tons in the new system. Oh, yeah, getting Jason Taylor, who won the league defensive MVP award two years ago, is part of this team now. This is the longshot special.

7. Super Bowl, and to win it, this year. Now that David Garrard is firmly entrenched as the quarterback this team sure looks like that Tennessee Titans team that barely lost to the St. Louis Rams at the beginning of this decade. I think the Jags are good enough, but the AFC is loaded and while most of the other teams in the AFC improved, the Jags did not. Not really. Still, the odds are good enough to think about this team.

8. Super Bowl again when the Steelers have improved tremendously and the Colts and Chargers should be better while they have sort of gotten worse? At + 350 I have to pass on this team.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - - online odds + 4000 - - Garcia could lead them to Bowl, but if they find a way to get Brett Favre their chances would definitely improve. John Gruden is a great coach, the defense is still very good, and the offense will be better. The only real knock is that Garcia is old. Favre is old and he probably won’t make it to Tampa Bay and they have to fight against the New Orleans Saints who look like a top NFC team this season in their division. Serious knocks but 40 to 1 makes them a sleeper.

10. Super Bowl, but that schedule is super tough. It’s not as tough as the Steelers’ schedule, though, which means they could sneak in and win the AFC North Division. I really believe that Jamal Lewis is going to have a fantastic season. Picking up Donte Stallworth in the wide receiver position to stretch the field was smart. This team has what it takes, the online odds are excellent. It’s just that schedule and the Pittsburgh Steelers…those are two big hurdles in their way.

The 2008 Super Bowl XLII and beyond!
