Super Bowl XLV Props – Field Goal Bets

The average football fan will make a few prop bets on a given week, but with Super Bowl XLV taking place this Sunday, there are more than just a few to sink your teeth into.

With all kinds of crazy action, it's tough to weed out the ones that aren't just a shot in the dark. But with a few seasons of Super Bowl betting under my belt, here are the few that I think are your best bet come Sunday and Super Bowl XLV.

Super Bowl XLV Props:

Longest Field Goal Made in the Game

Over 43 ½ yards (-115)

Under 43 ½ yards (-115)

To me, this is a lock. First of all, this game is taking place in a dome, which means perfect kicking conditions for both Shaun Suisham and Mason Crosby. These guys play in two of the toughest stadiums to kick field goals, so having the perfect conditions means that all they have to worry about is stepping up and kicking. Yes, this is a Super Bowl which means that both guys will have all kinds of pressure on them every time they line one up, but that's the life of a kicker.

Both clubs possess outstanding defences, which means that drives are going to stall and the kickers will be busy. The chance of one of those drives stalling around the 30 yard line is almost guaranteed, and with points likely coming at a premium, long field goals are surely going to be attempted. Add that all up and it equals at least one three pointer being hit from beyond 43 ½ yards, so take the over on this prop.

Total Field Goals Made by Both Teams

Over 3 FG's (-145)

Under 3 FG's (+115)

Sticking with the kicking theme, this one to me is a lock as well. Both clubs will be able to make some plays, but getting it into the endzone will be a totally different story. And when you put two teams together that can play good defence, it usually winds up being a battle of the kickers. Considering that the over is only three, I'd bet that they hit that number in the first half alone.

Both Mason Crosby and Shaun Suisham are reliable guys that have the confidence of their coach, so neither team will hesitate to send them out there to put three on the board. At the end of the day, both guys could have three field goals, which makes this bet a lock in my opinion.
