Ice Storm Picks Nov. 30-Dec. 3

The topsy-turvy world of the NHL continues along, but we’re not deterred. The betting information and analysis we’ve been handing out has been spot on and we’re not about to be scared off by some inconsistencies in certain teams.

Hard under in Dallas

Despite the fact that Marty Turco has not won in his last four starts, he has played pretty well in the last two. Meanwhile, backup goaltender Mike Smith has been stellar as well, even garnering a player-of-the-week honor recently. All this to say that the Stars are a pretty consistent under play. Not only are they stingy on defense, but their offense is not exactly lighting it up. Several offensive players are having down years on the team and that gives us the confidence to make them a regular play for the under- even when it is 5 in some cases!

Flaming hot

Look out for the Calgary Flames. After losing three of four games recently, Calgary got back on the winning side and has begun their ascent in the Northwest Division. The key has been goal-scoring. They are finally getting production out of newcomer Alex Tanguay, while leader Jerome Iginla has picked it up as well. Throw in a nice season from youngster Matthew Lombardi and the Flames are a team to ride for the next little while on the money line. The defense and goaltender has been there all season, it’s the O that has suddenly kicked in.

Eyes like a Hawk

Keep your eyes on the Chicago Blackhawks’ odds. They are 1-0 with their new coach and are expected to play a more up-tempo game. This will increase their chances for going over the game and team goal totals. But we’re more interested in them for the goal line over the next few games. Still several games under .500, this team will still give a lot of value in this area- provided they keep games close and eke out a couple of wins along the way.

Flying Leafs and pucks

Keep the pedal to the metal when it comes to betting on Toronto and the over totals. They are horrible defensively, but can also put the puck in the net at a pretty good clip. This combo is pure over gold. Even if the game over/under is listed at 6.5 on a regular basis, don’t let that shy you away from going above the total. They’ve had back-to-back games of final score being under the over/under figure and that means the value could be there. Jump on it!
