NHL Friday Hockey Betting - Sharks look to continue feast

A quick start to the season has the NHL betting have probably also noted that they’re high on the Cup odds chart.

The Sharks, who are coming off a 7-6 shootout win over the Flyers on Wednesday night, are third on the Penguins (+700), and just ahead of the Habs (+900).

And San Jose will be looking to stay on their roll on Friday night when they play on the road against the Panthers. Florida and backup goaltender Craig Anderson stymied the Senators by a final score of 3-1 on Wednesday night to get back to .500 on the season (they’re 3-3-0). Still, the Panthers are well down the current Cup odds list at only +5000.

The Senators (now at 2-3-1) will try to get back in the win column on Friday night when they play host to the Ducks. Those two teams met in the Stanley Cup final two seasons ago, but they’ve turned in less-than-impressive results since then. Ottawa is back at +2000 odds to win the championship this season, while Anaheim is ahead at +1600.

The other games on tap for Friday: the New Jersey. Philly’s shootout loss to the Sharks on Wednesday night put them at 0-3-3; they’re the league’s only winless team.

The Devils and Flyers will then play a 4:00pm ET contest on Saturday afternoon, which will see the game wrapping up before the Phillies host the Rays in Game 3 of the World Series on Saturday night. Despite their very different results so far this season (the Devils are 5-1-0), Philadelphia and New Jersey have similar Cup odds right now – the Flyers are at +1800, while the Devils are actually still a bit behind them at just +2000.

A typically busy Saturday around the continent’s arenas sees 15 total hockey games on the schedule. Other contests include Atlanta at Phoenix.

As well, the Canadiens will play host to the Ducks on Saturday night. Montreal last played on Monday night, when they got past the Panthers 3-1 to run their record to 5-0-1 on the season. Backup netminder Jaroslav Halak got the victory in that contest. Check the BetUS NHL odds section for all the latest odds and totals for this weekend’s games.
