NHL Playoffs: Round 2 Betting Preview

The stage is set for Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs. Boston was the last team in after their 7-4 beating of Toronto in Game 7.

Round 2 begins Thursday night with Pittsburgh at Washington and San Jose vs Vegas. Let's take a look ahead at what Round 2 is sure to bring for bettors.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins

The Maple Leafs played a good series, but ultimately fell short to the Brawlin' Bruins in Game 7. Now, Boston is four wins away from heading to the Eastern Conference Finals. First, they'll need to get through Tampa Bay who are the favorites going into this series (-135).

Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

After fighting back from an 0-2 hole, the Capitals beat the Blue Jackets in four straight games to reach the second round. Now, they take on the 2017 Stanley Cup Champion, Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ah - we are back to this rivalry. The Pittsburgh Penguins have eliminated the Washington Capitals far too many times for Capitals fans to count. The Penguins needed six games to down their in-state rivals. This will be a fun, wild and maybe chippy series. There is no doubt Washington is going to be plenty motivated, and they have home ice advantage.

Nashville Predators vs. Winnipeg Jets

If we asked you who the top two teams in the regular season were - would you know it was these two teams? The Nashville Predators ended with 117 points, and the Jets were close behind with 114. This will be an incredible series, and another reason the NHL should once again consider their playoff format. The Predators are seeking to return to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight year. The Predators will start at home where they went 28-9-4 in the regular season. Winnipeg was even better at home with 32 wins.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. San Jose Sharks

Two red-hot teams coming off first round sweeps go skate-to-skate this in this series. In case you forgot, the Golden Knights are an EXPANSION team. Vegas will have home ice advantage in this one and what an advantage it will be. The Golden Knights finished 29-10-2 at home this regular season.

The San Jose Sharks took care of Anaheim, a team that took the home ice advantage from them in the final week of the season. The Ducks had won five straight games, before dropping four in a row to the Sharks. Look for a fun, physical series here.

There is a look at the second round of the National Hockey League playoffs. Best of luck with all your NHL Betting and enjoy the games!
