Still coolest game on earth
Still coolest game on earth
The National Hockey League is back in a big way. We are seeing some of the best hockey played in the league since the early 1990's. I am a Canadiens and Oilers fan. Yet, I find myself watching full games between teams I don't really care about.

It's been one entertaining game after another, as goals are up roughly 1.5 goals per game as compared to the same period in 2003-2004. Whether it's the exorbitant amount of talented rookies taking to the ice this season, or the sheer skill being allowed to shine through; this is one hockey league that is giving fans their money's worth.

As a bettor, it's so nice not to have to worry about ties. You either win or lose a game, no more factoring in a neutral result- as it should be! Shootouts have also taken the game to whole other level, as fans are brought to the edge of their seats, knowing each shootout breakaway could give their team a much needed win.

Yes, we said goodbye to several hall-of-famers, as players such as Brett Hull, Mark Messier and Scott Stevens all said goodbye in 2005. However, it's the smaller, the hungrier players that are feasting on this more open NHL who are picking up the slack- and then some! Sparkplugs all over the league are no longer fearful of penetrating the offensive zone and getting a stick in the back or an elbow to the chops. It's been wide open hockey and it's been oh so entertaining.

So go ahead, bet on hockey and enjoy the action, because whether you win or lose your bet; you're guaranteed to love the league's new product.
