Overall Record 7-7-1
Montreal-New Jersey under 6
The Canadiens are taking their act on the road, to visit the Devils, who have beaten Montreal on home ice with ease in recent years. But, these are different New Jersey and Montreal teams. With the Devils having a tough time scoring, and with Montreal missing their best scorer (Kovalev), look for this one to be tight and low-scoring. Take under 6.
Saturday
Nashville over Minnesota
The Predators are starting to pick their game back up and will visit a Wild team that is in last place. Look for Nashville to dominate this one, surprising the Minnesota crowd. Goaltending has been a problem for the Wild, so take the Preds to win on the money line.
Phoenix over San Jose
The Coyotes and Sharks have both been average at best this season. But, San Jose has been more disappointing than the Coyotes. Wayne Gretzky is slowly gaining more and more respect from his players and they are seemingly turning a corner. Take a chance on Phoenix on the road here on the money.
Okay folks, it's time for Hockey Guy to deliver the hard check, to steal the puck and score, to rally the troops. Indeed, it's been a trying couple of last articles for your Canadian ice guru. But, we are still .500 and have plenty of time to make a good season out of it. Hockey Guy never loses his cool. He has sharpened his skates, re-taped his stick and has switched linemates. We are all set to go with some picks for Friday and Saturday in hockey. So, if you can still take a chance on an old vet here, then take a look at these picks and try them out this weekend.

Friday
Dallas over Columbus on point spread (-1.5) and money line
Dallas over Columbus on point spread (-1.5) and money line
We are doubling up on this game, as the Stars have won six of seven and are playing some lights out hockey right now. The Blue Jackets acquired Sergei Federov, but he is aging and won't have much of an impact on the league's worst attack. Dallas is getting production from Arnott, Guerin, Lehtinen, Modano and even their defensemen, looking like a definite contender. The Stars are laying a lot on the money line, but they are well worth the risk. This is a dynamite team right now, especially in goal, where Marty Turco was the player-of-the-week. Take the Stars on the money line and with the spread.
