2 Team Hockey Parlay - The Good The Bad and The Ugly
by Dave Bond

Wednesday night’s NHL lines action is relatively light but features four teams that are on opposite ends of the standings spectrum. Some good teams are featured but unfortunately some bad ones are too.
Philadelphia Flyers (33-25-3) vs. Florida Panthers (24-28-10)
7:30 PM ET, Wednesday, March 3, 2010
Bank Atlantic Center, Sunrise, Florida
- The Florida Panthers rank 27th on offense, and average 2.5 goals per game. The Panthers are 15.4% on the power play and have 36 power play goals.
- The Philadelphia Flyers rank 7th on offense, and average 2.9 goals per game. The Flyers are 21.8% on the power play and have 53 power play goals.
- The Panthers average 2.6 goals per game at home, and give up 2.6 goals against on defense.
- The Flyers average 2.7 goals per game on the road, and give up 2.7 goals against on defense.
Moneyline: Philadelphia: -140: Florida: +120
Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers have completely turned their season around. After a disastrous start, the Flyers have suddenly emerged as a quality team with quality prospects going forward. They won their fifth straight game on Tuesday night with a 7-3 thrashing of Tampa and now they get to play Tampa’s weaker state cousin. Michael Leighton is stepping up in a huge way in goal and players like Mike Richards, Danny Briere and Jeff Carter are contributing each and every night. The Flyers are rolling as best as you can after a two week break.
Puck Line: Philadelphia: - 1 ½ : Florida: + 1 ½
Florida Panthers
Florida has gone 2-7-1 in their last 10 games and are quickly becoming a bit of a doormat for the league’s better teams. Nathan Horton might return this week making Stephen Weiss more effective but outside of those two and Tomas Vokoun (who could be traded by Wednesday’s deadline) there is nothing much to like about the Panthers. Flyers win easily.
NHL free Pick: Philadelphia Flyers -140
Edmonton Oilers (19-37-6) vs. Chicago Blackhawks (41-16-5)
8:30 PM ET, Wednesday, March 3, 2010
The United Center, Chicago, Illinois
- The Chicago Blackhawks rank 3rd on offense, and average 3.1 goals per game. The Blackhawks are 19.3% on the power play and have 42 power play goals.
- The Edmonton Oilers rank 29th on offense, and average 2.4 goals per game. The Oilers are 18.5% on the power play and have 42 power play goals.
- The Blackhawks average 3.1 goals per game at home, and give up 2.2 goals against on defense.
- The Oilers average 2.0 goals per game on the road, and give up 3.3 goals against on defense.
Moneyline: Edmonton: +310: Florida: -380
Edmonton Oilers
Ugh! Sorry to you Edmonton Oilers fans, but Tuesday’s game has the potential to get ugly. With the trade deadline Wednesday afternoon, who knows who will be on this roster by game time. I will just throw out a few stats and not waste your time too much. Edmonton is 13-39 in their last 52 games including a 7-21 record in their last 28 road games. They are next to last on offense and next to last on defense. You get the picture – they are plain terrible and with Chicago on the slate…
Puck Line: Edmonton: +1 ½ : Chicago: - 1 ½
Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be a mad bunch after Tuesday’s loss to the lowly New York Islanders. Although Dwayne Roloson stole the game for the Isles, a loss is still a loss. Look for Pat Kane, Jonathan Toews and Marion Hossa to turn it on and take their frustrating Tuesday loss out on the pitiful Oilers on Wednesday night.
Pick: Chicago Blackhawks -380
