The Predators on Tuesday as these two powerhouses continue to jockey for position in the Western Conference. Both teams will be without their star acquisitions as Peter Forsberg is day-to-day with an undisclosed upper-body injury and Todd Bertuzzi is still nursing that back injury.
Nashville has been riding high, winning four of their last five. Their only loss was a 2-3 decision to Anaheim. They sit two points ahead of Detroit in the Western standings, so both teams will be playing lights-out hockey on Tuesday.
The Predators overall scoring and defense are in the top ten of the NHL. But so are the Wing’s overall scoring and defense. The Red Wings, however, are still dealing with nagging injuries to Daniel Cleary (sprained ankle), Dominik Hasek (sore groin) and Henrik Zetterberg (back injury), so that rules out two of their top forwards and their future hall of fame goaltender.
The Predators also have concerns on the bench, as David Legwand, Steve Sullivan and Jason Arnott are all listed as day-to-day.
However, the loss in net for the Red Wings is a big one. With Hasek out, the Predators are sure to find the twine despite Detroit’s stout defense. Though injuries deplete Nashville’s high powered offense, they are still one of the deeper teams on the league. Nashville retains their Central Division lead for now.
