The third place team in the Eastern Conference will clash with the third place team in the Western Conference as Vancouver on Tuesday night. These two clubs have not played in over three years, but Vancouver remains the favorite whilst at home. As favorites, the Nucks are a ridiculous 20-9.
The Lightning have been inconsistent on the road. They nearly gave up a loss to lowly Washington before edging them out 5-4. Then they lost to Florida on the road 6-2. Their awful road defense (ranked 24th) and their miserable road penalty killing (29th) are to blame.
The Canucks, meanwhile are riding a two-game home winning streak after posting victories on St. Louis quite well, and will certainly be able to take advantage of power plays with defenseman Brent Sopel back in Van-City.
Look for the Canucks to paste the Lightning in a dominating home victory, as Tampa continues to dwindle vulnerably atop the Southeast Division.
