NHL Eastern Conference Free Picks – Tuesday Edition
by Tim Furious

Pittsburgh Penguins (1-1-1)
Let’s make this simple for all you New York Rangers. Now they face the third beast in the East: Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby.
Pittsburgh however, is having a rough outing. They’ve lost Sergei Gonchar and Ryan Whitney to injury, so their power play is essentially non-existent. They’ve gone 2-4 SU in their past 6 games and should get a morale boost by dispatching of the Flyers, who are hot on offense and short as a stump on defense.
NHL Free Pick: Pittsburgh (OVER)
Atlanta Thrashers (1-0-1)
The Wild got off to a good start as they easily beat Boston at home, displaying their solid balance through their top-3 lines. Mikko Koivu had two assists and Eric Belanger scored two goals in the win.
Atlanta managed to lose to Florida which is pretty much how you can expect their season to go. They caught Washington by surprise, but everyone who has ever read my hockey previews know how much I lose Minnesota, and how much I absolutely despise the dirty birds. Look for a balanced and consistent attack from Minnesota to overcome all the defensive shortcomings of the Thrashers, who allowed 4.0 goals against the last time they were at home.
NHL Free Pick: Minnesota (OVER)
