The Ducks will be without All-Star defenseman Chris Pronger tonight as they take on his old team, the Edmonton Oilers.
The Ducks will have little to worry about with Pronger nursing his broken toe. Teemu Selanne has led the team with 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) over the last 11 games. Goalie J.S Giguere has been absurdly solid down the stretch, going 9-0-2 in his last 11 home games.
Meanwhile, the Oilers are still reeling from the Ryan Smyth trade. They have twelve players, including starting goaltender Dwayne Roloson, on the shelf with injuries. To make matters worse, they have are riding a five-game losing streak, during which they have scored a total of five goals, and they have not registered a power-play goal in 16 attempts.
The Ducks will lay a smack down on the hapless Oilers on Friday night, as they look to cover some ground on Nashville in the Western Conference standings. The Oilers have little defense to speak of, and, with Giguere playing the way he is, they have little chance at scoring. Look for Teemu to tear apart this withered roster on the way to a shutout victory.
