Colorado Avalanche (38-27-6)
Thursday, March 13th --- Pepsi Center, Denver --- 9:00pm EST
: Colorado -230
Whenever a hockey betting line crests past -200, then you know something is up. Edmonton has 2.79 goals per game, but their defense is atrocious, allowing 3.06. They might be 7-1 SU in their past 8 games, but a lot of those wins are coming out of shootouts. Sure that makes for entertaining hockey, but that is death for you betting parlay at the end of the night.
The Avalanche were riding a ridiculous seven-game winning streak before being upended by the Stars in a 3-0 washout. Still, with a 4-1 SU record in their past 5 home stands, you have to love the Avalanche in the altitude. Edmonton barely edged Colorado three weeks ago, and the Avs are a totally different team now.
The Avs boast victories over Edmonton down in the UNDER.

: Phoenix -130
Another Thursday. Another Canucks game. And yes – another chance for me to bash the Knuckleheads. I hate this team. Seriously I do. Is there a less exciting playoff team in the league right now? And is there a worse road team recently? They’re 5-11 SU in their past 16 road tests and have owned Phoenix in the past. But with the amount of quality shots that Roberto Luongo sees every night, it’s only a matter of time before he goes Cujo and snaps mid-game, choke slamming a referee right before he smacks his defenseman in the back of the skull with a steel chair while screaming, “DO YOU IDIOTS EVEN KNOW HOW TO BLOCK A SHOT?”
Phoenix is a fun team to watch, if only because they can play physical hockey. They’re a BIG team. And a shootout victory over Anaheim shows just how dangerous they can be to any team at home. They have the tenth best defense in the league with only 2.7 goals against, despite the fact that the Shane Doan offense only notches 2.6 goals per game. That spells disaster for a team like Vancouver which has had trouble with offensive consistency this season.
Vancouver never handles big teams well, and they don’t get much bigger than the desert dogs. Watch as Canucks are pretenders at best, first round fodder at the least, and perhaps the most overrated team in the league. Why do I hate them so much you ask? Just try and talk to any of their fans and you’ll see why. But that’s not why I hate them from a betting standpoint. I just don’t trust any team that boasts the best goalie in the league and still allows 2.54 goals per game on 28.53 high quality boomers.
: Phoenix -130 (UNDER)
