Stanley Cup Game 6 Betting Line - Chicago vs Philadelphia
by Ian James

For the first time in the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, the trophy has had to make an appearance. Lord Stanley’s Cup will be in Philadelphia tonight as the Blackhawks are one game away from hoisting hockey’s Holy Grail. With their backs against the wall, will Philly be able to pull off another monumental comeback or is this the end of their Cinderella run?
Stanley Cup Game 6 NHL Betting Line:
Chicago Blackhawks (-110) at Philadelphia Flyers (-110)
Broadcast – Wednesday, June 9th – 8 pm ET (NBC, CBC)
Puckline – Flyers -1 ½ (+230), Blackhawks +1 ½ (-270)
If Chicago wants to be world champions tonight, they are going to need to figure out a way to win at the Wachovia Center. The Hawks WERE the best road team in the playoffs coming into this series, but they were beat two games in a row in Philly, so it’s easy to see why many people are picking this one to go seven games. In fact, Chicago hasn't won a game in Philadelphia since 1996 (0-10).
Even after Sunday's 7-4 win, the Blackhawks know that game six is going to be a totally different game. That being said, if they play with the same tenacity and jump as they did in Game 5, they'll be putting themselves in a very good position to win the Stanley Cup tonight. They know that, as was evident in their room after their Game 5 win. The players, although obviously happy with the way they played, remained very reserved and business like, knowing the job wasn’t finished yet.
The Flyers kept the same composure, realizing that "It was just one game," as Laviolette quoted. And although they did lose Game 5 quite handily, they knew they were coming home to a building they have dominated in all playoffs, with a chance to force Game 7, where anything can happen.
The big question everyone was asking was if Michael Leighton would be getting start for Game 6, and that is a definite yes. He will no doubt need to be better if the Flyers are going to spoil the Hawks chance at the Cup tonight, but so will everyone else. Pronger had one of the worst games statistically of his career in Game 5, so he’ll need to be better as well.
The offensive spark for the Flyers will likely have to come from Danny Briere, who has 2 goals and 7 assists against the Hawks, and Scott Hartnell, who has 3 goals and 4 assists in the series. They would love for Jeff Carter to come up big, but he’s been all but invisible out there due to a nagging foot injury. But aside from Leighton, Mike Richards is the guy that has to have the biggest game for Philly if they want to win tonight. He’s going to need to be the offensive and emotional catalyst that the rest of the team feeds off. If he’s not going, I don’t think the Flyers have a chance.
But with that being said, I say Richards is the best player on the ice tonight. There’s a reason he has that C on his jersey, and he’ll prove it again tonight. Take the Flyers at -110 to force a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals.
