Can Pittsburgh Rebound From A Shutout In Detroit?
Pavel Datsyuk’s mere presence was enough to shake the Penguins down and obliterate Marc Andre-Fleury to the tune of a 5-0 shutout. Now the Penguins are on the brink of losing 4-2 SU to the Detroit Red Wings in back-to-back seasons as they return to the confines of Mellon Arena. What’s your call, Pittsburgh?
Pittsburgh’s fatal mistake was losing their cool in Game 5. They amassed an unruly 48 penalty minutes through an unmitigated lack of discipline. For those of you new to hockey, a game is only 60 minutes long (a lot of the penalties happened at the same time…they weren’t at full strength for just 12 minutes). But it goes to show that Pittsburgh, and their fearless leader, have yet to learn from the critical errors of last year.
If anything, that’s what makes me both nervous and confident about Pittsburgh’s chances in Game 6. Pittsburgh is 6-1 SU in their last 7 games at the Igloo, while the Red Wings have been run of the road to the score of 1-4 SU in their last 5 away from home.
