Everything You Need to Know about the Lingerie Football League
by Ian James

Don’t let the booty shorts or padded bras fool you, the girls of the Lingerie Football League (LFL) are a tough bunch that means business when it comes to their profession. I didn’t say you won’t notice their attire but you may be surprised at the level of play when the girls debut a month from now.

Fall 2009 will mark the start of their inaugural season with the ten team league playing in some of the major cities around the country. Those include the Chicago Bliss, Miami Caliente, NY Majesty, Philadelphia Passion, Tampa Breeze, Dallas Desire, Denver Dream, LA Temptation, San Diego Seduction and the Seattle Mist. A mouth full to say the least but if you can get past the novelty aspect of it and take a look at some of the preseason video of these girls practicing and training you’ll realize that they’re treating this very seriously.
Its going to be a little different than your traditional football as the field is only 50 yards in length and 30 yards wide with an 8 yard end-zone to throw at. Scoring will also have some interesting twists as there is no punting or field goals. A touchdown is still worth 6 points but you have two options when it comes to converting the score; Option A is run or pass the ball into the end-zone from the 2 yard line and you get a single point while Option B is the same but from the 5 yard line and that gets you the 2 points.
There will be 7 gorgeous girls on both offense and defense with both teams allowed to carry a 12 player active roster with 6 inactive players. On offense will be 1 QB, 2 Running Backs, 1 Down-Linewoman and 3 Wide Receivers. The defense is allowed 2 Down-Linewomen, 2 Linebackers, 2 Cornerbacks and 1 Safety.
Rather than having the full compliment of pads that other full contact football leagues have, these girls are playing only in shoulder pads and helmets, half shields at that. The uniforms, as you can imagine, will not have all that much to them which will be a big draw for the male crowd.
All I can say is go check out the website http://www.lflus.com/ and see for yourself the amount of “talent” these girls have. I know I’ll be tuning in when the season kicks off and can’t wait for all the “wow, these girls can actually play” comments after the first week.
