Kanye West Shows His True Colors
by Ian James

Kanye West proved what we all knew this whole time, that he’s a piece of hot steaming garbage. Shortly after Janet Jackson performed a moving tribute to her brother to kick of the MTV Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift won the award for best female video. That’s when the fireworks started.
West, who is notorious for being a poor sport and flipped out after losing at the VMAs, the Grammys, the American Music Awards, showed his displeasure again with who was given an award. This time, it was on behalf of Beyonce.
Beyonce was nominated for best female video for "Single Ladies," but was beaten out by Swift, the best-selling artist of the year outside of Jackson. Obviously elated, the 19-year-old was beaming as she arrived on the stage to accept her award for "You Belong With Me," saying, "I always wondered what it would be like to maybe win one of these someday, but never actually thought it would happen."
That’s when Kanye decided to ruin the young girls moment when he jumped on stage and let everyone know his opinion. " Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time," he said, as a shocked Beyonce looked on and the crowd began to boo West.
Swift was so stunned and taken back by Kanye’s actions that she didn't finish her speech. She was able to regroup and performed "You Belong With Me" in a subway station but the damage had been done.
Some justice was served later in the show as Swift got her chance, courtesy of Beyonce, who won video of the year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" when she won. She took the opportunity to right the situation and had some nice words for Swift "I remember how excited I was," she said. "I'd like Taylor to come out and have her moment."
Swift obliged, although clearly nervous and still shaken by the situation when she reached the stage and said, "Can we try this again?" before going on to thank everyone she would have thanked had West not interrupted her.
As for Kanye, the crowd was unforgiving of West’s actions. When his name was read later in the show while introducing the nominees for best male video, the crowd let him know just how they felt about his outburst, booing the start loudly.
The only thing stranger about this night, and there were all kinds of storylines, must have been Lady Gaga’s outfits. I don’t know what to say other than I hope she has a good psychiatrist.
