How do you follow up setting a world record? By breaking it. Usain Bolt shattered another of his own world records on Thursday. He ran a break neck 19.19 seconds to win gold in the men's 200 meters at the world championships in Berlin.

The race took place one year to the day after Usain took the gold in the Beijing Olympics in 19.30 seconds. Today he was running into a slight headwind but that would not slow him down. The Jamaican got an excellent start and blew away a fast but over-matched field.

Alsonso Edward of Panama finished second in 19.81 - a long 0.62 behind Bolt.

Wallace Spearmon of the U.S. got the bronze in 19.85, while American sprinters Shawn Crawford and Jamaican Steve Mullings — clocked in at under 20 seconds.

For Bolt, it was the second time in less than a week that he lowered by 0.11 seconds one of the records he set in Beijing. He won 100-meter gold Sunday in 9.58.

Today, Usain did not have to worry about the defending 200 world champion Tyson Gay. Earlier Gay finished second in the 100 final and opted to rest a lingering groin injury in hopes of contributing to the U.S. 4x100 relay team.
