Dear AskTheBookie,
I read the 2006 NBA Finals Preview by Robbie Maddux. Could you please tell me what SU and ATS mean. Thanks a lot.
Sincerely,Tim B.

Bookie:
Dear Tim,
SU is the abbreviation for Straight Up, meaning the record of a team overall, without factoring in the spread. Conversely, ATS is Against the Spread, meaning the record of a team in relation to the spread. In other words, this one refers ONLY to spread numbers and not to a team's record in the standings.   Sincerely,   Bookie's Assistant AskTheBookie@BetUS.com.
