How to Bet on Horses!

Making racehorse you have to remember that it’s a racehorse - - an animal that weighs about 1,000 lbs being steered by a Hobbit.

It’s imperative that online horse racing wagers.

Betting Tips

1. Pace - - The key in any race is pace. By pace, I mean how the pace of the race sets up. You need to have a good idea of which horses will run upfront and which horses will come from behind. Pressure on speed horses will end their chances. Will the pace be hot enough for the closers to get to the wire first? This is the key to handicapping any race.

2. Speed - - Speed is important but the advent of artificial tracks has made speed a secondary consideration when handicapping a horse race. The fastest horse doesn’t always win the race. But if you can find a horse that is the lone speed in the race, in other words, that horse isn’t facing any pace pressure up front, then you have to consider making an online wager on it. It doesn’t matter if the race is on grass, dirt, or an artificial track.

3. Class - - Some horses are bred to be winners. Some aren’t. The saying “class on the grass” still applies. Always look for the classiest horses on the grass. Classy grass horses can run up front, come from behind…do pretty much anything they want. On the dirt class isn’t as important if the horse you like is the lone speed. On artificial tracks class has become less important than any other factor. Look to number four to figure out how to wager on horses running on the artificial tracks.

4. Trainers - - With the advent of artificial tracks, the trainer has become one of the most important factors in handicapping a race. If you find a trainer who does his best work by placing his horses on artificial tracks, then you might not want to consider any other factor. Trainer stats are important for every track, but this is especially true for artificial tracks where training methods inevitably lead to longshot victories and huge online betting payouts. Especially pay attention to the trainer stats for horsemen and women saddling ponies at the California tracks where every racetrack is artificial.
