Hey Jack - good question. Most of the time people won't bet on horse racing because they are not aware of or don't understand the betting options. We are here to fix that.
A quinella is one of the simplest bets in horse racing and involves a relatively large payout for a relatively small bet. Betting the quinella involves picking the two horses that will finish the race 1-2 in any order. It is an alternative to the "exacta" bet where one must pick the two horses that finish 1-2 in the specific order of finish.

When playing a quinella by picking more then two horses it is known as a "quinella box". Basically, using your example of three horses: A,B and C, you would bet all the combinations of first and second place finishes between the 3 horses. it would work out like this:
A,B to win or place
A,C to win or place
B,C to win or place
you would be charged for each quinella combination that you played, in this case, the above listed three. If one of your combination hits - you get paid!
